Hey! I’m Mysha Bolen, the creative mind behind Remington Avenue.

I started my blog in early 2015 when we moved into our house in Lehi, Utah, with ambitious plans to renovate and update it. My journey into home renovations began in 2010 when we bought a house in Arizona. The previous owners had very eclectic tastes that didn’t match my style, but the house had great potential. This is where I discovered my love and knack for home design.

Creativity has always been a part of me. I drew, painted, and attended fashion design school in Seattle, WA, but wasn’t using those skills professionally at the time. Instead, I was doing door-to-door sales. Diving back into creative projects was incredibly fulfilling, especially because I got to live in what I created.

When we purchased our home in Utah, I began teaching myself how to tackle bigger projects and renovations. I heard about people posting their projects online and sometimes getting companies to pay for supplies. I thought if I could get the lumber and materials sponsored, I could take on more projects without costing me anything but my time. That’s when and why I started the blog and began sharing my projects on social media.

I like to call myself a DIY interior designer, but my degree is in fashion design. After a career in direct sales, I quit my job to stay at home with my kiddos. I found myself still searching for a creative outlet and turned to the walls of my own home. I’ve always loved art and the entire creative process, so I took the principles I learned in fashion school and started applying them to my home.

Welcome to my journey of turning houses into homes, one DIY project at a time!
