Legendary Pictures is finally moving forward with the long-awaited Gundam movie project, which was first announced at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles back in 2018. Since then, the project has gone through multiple script revisions and changes in directors. Despite these challenges, the studio remained committed to producing a live-action Gundam film. Recently, it was announced that Legendary has secured a release platform through Netflix, a company known for adapting Japanese anime into live-action, with "Cowboy Bebop" being a notable example. Indie director Jim Mickle, who directed the acclaimed TV series "Sweet Tooth," is set to helm the project, which will feature actors Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo. It is still unclear whether the Gundam movie will be given a theatrical release or will premiere directly on streaming.

Warner Bros Releases New Teaser For Godzilla x Kong Sequel

 It looks like there is an even bigger and nastier giant ape living in the Hollow Earth than Kong!

Warner Bros has just released the first teaser trailer for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and it features yet another super-sized Simeon that wants to add both Godzilla and Kong to its massive boneyard. 

Little is actually known about the film except that it will be directed by Adam Wingard (Godzilla x Kong) and will star Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, Dan Stevens, Fala Chen and Rachel House. So far both Warner Bros and Legendary have been rather tight lipped about the project only hinting that Godzilla and Kong would, “team up to face a world-ending threat so terrifying that neither could survive alone,” and this trailer seems to show us who that threat is.

To be honest this one looks a little disappointing, I like most Godzilla movie fans were hoping to see more monsters from the original Japanese movie series like Gigan, Biollante or even Anguirus, all of whom have been rumored to be connected with this project.

Star Wars Cast Member Accidentally Reveals The Return Of Luke Skywalker!

Please don't mistake this post for any interest on my part in Star Wars Episode IX. I have no intent on seeing it but I'm posting this for all the wayward fans who may still be holding on to the hope that the last Star Wars sequels my somehow save what has so far been a horrible storyline.

One would think that reading the script for a new Star Wars movie would be a thrilling privilege. But it might be more terrifying than exciting. 

So thinks Domhnall Gleeson, anyway, who recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and reflected on his feelings after he read the script, which include mostly dread. Not because of anything in the script, mind you, but because he’s afraid of spoiling it.

“I made the terrible mistake of reading the script, I know everything,” he said.

“The nightmare is falling asleep on public transport … The nightmare is you wake up on a plane and someone’s dictating. You wake up and your mouth is shaping words, you wake up and you’re like, ‘Skywalker did this.’ And then you realise you don’t know how long you’ve been speaking, and there’s a kid filming, there’s somebody writing it down. And because you’re in the air, you say, ‘We need to have a talk before we land, I can access my bank account.’”

This is just another entry in the fascinating saga of modern script secrecy, and the stress it undoubtedly causes everyone on a production. Spoilers are a big deal, enough so that an actor spoiling a big movie can become an internet sensation, and that many actors just aren’t even given the script to read in the first place.

I don’t blame Gleeson for being nervous. Maybe, for a while, he should avoid the train. Just in case.

I think many of you clued into the line "Skywalker did this". It looks like Domhnall may have done exactly what he was scared of doing by accidentally revealing a major plot point.

Poor guy will never get any sleep now.

In the lead up to the release of this year’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, it was reported on multiple occasions that Disney and Lucasfilm were working on an Obi-Wan Kenobi Anthology movie.

Last August, it was revealed that Oscar-nominated director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) was in talks to write and potentially direct the Obi-Wan film, while earlier this year rumours suggested that the movie was actually in pre-production and would start shooting in April 2019 after Star Wars: Episode IX wraps production.

However, in the wake of Solo’s box office failure, Disney and Lucasfilm are reportedly taking stock of their Star Wars plans, and while it has been said that the spinoff is still in the works – potentially for Disney’s upcoming streaming service – it appears this is news to Obi-Wan himself, Ewan McGregor.

“I would totally do it, of course,” said McGregor, speaking to The Express during an interview for his new film Christopher Robin. “There’s no plans as such to do it, as far as I know. There must be a good story to tell as they’re doing spin-offs – there’s likely to be a good Obi-Wan between me and Alec Guinness.”

Now, it is of course entirely possible that McGregor is just looking to throw us off the scent, or that Disney and Lucasfilm is yet to commit to the project 100%, and therefore the actor doesn’t want to offer any confirmations until the film has officially received the green light. However, with the studios’ focus now firmly on Episode IX, we may have some time to wait before we find out either way…

While Godzilla vs. Kong is still a few years away, the pre-production continues to move forward as the film has recruited the VFX supervisor from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Godzilla vs. Kong will pit the two giant beasts against each other in 2020 to see who is the true king of the monsters.

After the success of Gareth Edward's Godzilla in 2014, it was announced that Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. Entertainment would be coming together in order to build a shared universe called MonsterVerse. Among the most exciting of these future films was the film simply titled Godzilla vs. Kong, since it would see two legendary and unstoppable monsters battling it out to see who was top monster. The film was announced back in 2015, before fans had the tease of the future monster universe at the end of Kong: Skull Island. With as many monsters that are expected to be in the upcoming film, the visual effects department for Godzilla vs. Kong is going to have a daunting task ahead of them.

GWW reports that Zack Fox has been added on to Godzilla vs. Kong as the visual effects supervisor, though it's possible he's been hired as a VFX coordinator instead, based on an IMDb listing. Fox has previously worked on films like Christopher Robin and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which both required a huge amount of visual effects to be added in post-production. Fox has been working in the visual effects field since 2004, when he worked as a visual effects production assistant on Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

Godzilla News: Is Vera Farmiga The Woman Who Controls The Monsters?

Vera Farmiga has opened up about her role in the upcoming "Godzilla: King of Monsters" revealing that her character may have a way to control the monsters in the film.

“I play a paleobiologist. She has figured out a way to communicate with the creatures and potentially control them using their bioacoustics on a sonar level. So she is like a DJ for the monsters.”

She also spoke about director Michael Dougherty and how he is in many ways a perfectionist wanting several takes to get a scene right.

I don’t mind it. Except for when there is cork being thrown at you and wind machines blowing down your ear and up your nostrils. I don’t mind it. I like to have as many takes. Of course, it depends on the film and the emotional output of the scene. It depends on a lot. But I am not really ready to talk about the film quite yet, because I have such a one track mind.”

The actress also expressed that in her opinion Godzilla was more than just the savior of mankind in the film believing that the monster was a champion for the environment as well.

“And ‘Godzilla’ to me isn’t a film about monsters. It is a film about saving the environment. When it comes down to it that’s what emerged to me off the written page, and so I find that there has to be a little parable in it that makes me interested.”

Though this little tidbit may get under the skin of some monster fans it should be noted that Godzilla movies have often taken on both political and environmental issues, most notably in the original "Gojira", "Godzilla vs The Smog Monster" and "Godzilla Vs Biollante".

Those looking forward to Disney's INDIANA JONES 5 will have to wait just a bit longer to set out on another adventure with Harrison Ford's bullwhip-wielding rogue, as the studio has announced that the film has been moved from July 10, 2020 for a July 9. 2021 debut. As it happens, the film was supposed to shift into production in the United Kingdom in April of 2019, though scheduling conflicts and scripting issues seem to have "kalimaed" those plans. Never fear, though. Spielberg is still set to direct and Ford is reportedly looking forward to going on yet another dangerous mission as Disney plunders the series for more cash.

Furthermore, INDIANA JONES 5 isn't the only film from the studio that's being moved. As a part of the Indy announcement, the House of Mouse has also revealed that Dwayne Johnson's JUNGLE CRUISE will now set sail in theaters on Oct. 11, 2019, while Angelina Jolie's MALEFICENT 2 will cast a spell in cinemas on May 29, 2020. Furthermore, MARY POPPINS RETURNS starring Emily Blunt will now open on December 19th as opposed to its original Christmas Day release date.

Adjust your calendars as needed, and hold tight for when Disney reveals more about INDIANA JONES 5: THE SEARCH FOR MORE MONEY. Heh, that's not really what it's called, but I can't resist a good SPACEBALLS reference, and neither should you.

Well ... it looks like Disney and Lucasfilm have decided to move forward with their stand alone Star Wars prequels.

Hold up, "Star Wars" fans.

Reports of the death of future standalone films from that galaxy far, far away (like "Solo," "Rogue One" and a rumored -- but never-announced -- Obi-Wan Kenobi project) appear to be premature, and speculative at best.

Lucasfilm sources on Thursday characterized as "inaccurate" a report that future "Star Wars" movies falling outside of the regular trilogy storyline (Episodes I to IX) have been put on hold in the wake of the box office under-performance of "Solo: A Star Wars Story."

Instead, Lucasfilm told ABC News there are still "multiple" Star Wars films currently in development that have not been officially announced. Those projects are moving forward separate from an already-announced "Star Wars" trilogy being overseen by "The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson and another series of movies from "Game of Thrones" producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

"Star Wars: Episode IX" starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac is set to hit theaters in December 2019.

The film is being directed by J.J. Abrams, who also helmed "The Force Awakens" in 2015.

Lucasfilm is not yet talking publicly about the subject of any unannounced "Star Wars" films or their expected release dates. Fans will just have to wait and see.

Hold The Force! Disney Puts Future Star Wars Movies On The Shelf

Well this certainly sucks. After fumbling the ball with "The Last Jedi", which led to a so-so box office for "Solo", Disney has decided to put all of their future "Star Wars Story" movies back on the shelf until after "Episode Nine" is released. I will not be seeing the next movie myself due to the fact that I no longer care what happens to the remaining characters.

I still can't wrap my head around how Disney and Lucasfilm couldn't even remotely grasp what everyone wanted to see in their new trilogy. To put it simply "put the band back together". How hard is it to understand? Luke, Leia and Han save the galaxy one last time with some new interesting characters thrown in to expand the story. If those characters were strong enough, then make a movie about them. It was a slam-dunk and they blew it.

That being being said, both "Rogue One" and "Solo" were excellent!

It may be a while before we see any more movies like Solo: A Star Wars Story out of Lucasfilm. Sources with knowledge of the situation tell Collider that Lucasfilm has decided to put plans for more A Star Wars Story spinoff movies on hold, instead opting to focus their attention on Star Wars: Episode IX and what the next trilogy of Star Wars films will be after that film. Sources tell us that the previously rumored Obi-Wan movie was in active development, but those who were working on the film are no longer involved. It was recently reported that Logan filmmaker James Mangold was in early talks to write and direct the Boba Fett film, but that was before Solo’s release.

This news comes in the wake of the disappointing launch of Solo, which was only Lucasfilm’s second A Star Wars Story spinoff, but which received mixed-positive reviews and fell short of box office expectations. The film scored $84.4 million on opening weekend and has grossed $192.8 million domestically (and $339.5 million worldwide) in four weeks, which is nothing to scoff at but is far, far lower than the performance of other Star Wars movies at this benchmark. For comparison’s sake, Rogue One opened to $155 million and had grossed $424 million domestic by Week 4. To put it simply, while Solo did fine by blockbuster standards, it wasn’t the “event” that Lucasfilm expected out of a brand new Star Wars movie.

Of course the May release date could have had something to do with Solo’s disappointing performance. As opposed to Rogue One or the episodic films by J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson, Solo went head-to-head with a slew of summer blockbusters in May, opening mere weeks after box office juggernauts Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2. One wonders how the film would have fared had Lucasfilm pushed Solo’s release to December instead.

Regardless, we’re hearing that plans to revisit this A Star Wars Story format have been put on hold for the moment. Initially announced as “anthology” movies, the spinoffs got off to a rocky start and haven’t exactly been smooth sailing. Josh Trank (Chronicle) was developing a Boba Fett movie around the same time Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) was prepping Rogue One, but Trank was subsequently removed from the project and Lucasfilm lost a film off its planned slate. Then story issues led to extensive reshoots on Rogue One that reworked the third act, with Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) overseeing the new scenes. And then of course Solo saw directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller fired during production, with Ron Howard coming in to replace them and reshoot a number of scenes.

In addition to Episode IX, Lucasfilm has officially announced development on a new Star Wars trilogy focused on new characters from The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, as well as a new series of films written by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. These projects continue to be in development and are not part of the paused spinoffs we’re hearing about. But Lucasfilm’s main focus at the moment is planning the next trilogy after the Abrams-directed Star Wars 9, which is expected to conclude the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley) that began with The Force Awakens.

As with everything in Hollywood, it’s always possible that some filmmaker could come in and pitch an idea for a Star Wars Story spinoff that makes Lucasfilm rethink its approach, or opt to greenlight that idea as a one-off, but as of right now we’re hearing the studio’s focus has moved away from these spinoffs for the time-being and is squarely intent on getting Episode IX to the finish line and figuring out what the next trilogy of films will be.
