RoS: Legacy

ROS Legacy is a restored version of the classic battle royale game Rules of Survival. Originally released in 2017, it boasted more than 200 million players before its servers shut down in 2022. This revision offers encounters with a huge number of players and takes you back to well-known settings like Ghillie Island.

Ghillie, The Flord, and various game modes

Ghillie is available as soon as you load in and once again serves as one of the main battlegrounds in ROS Legacy. The second map, The Flord, can be downloaded separately. Matches can be played solo, in pairs, or by forming squads of four or five players, but the traditional battle royale mode is not the only option. Alternative modes such as Hero Clash, Death Race, Train, and ROStopia also make a comeback, changing the usual rules of the clashes.

Get an account before entering combat

ROS Legacy requires prior registration with Miare Labs, the studio responsible for this version, before you can play. To create your account, you just need to provide an email address and set a password. The email doesn't even need to be verified. After logging in, it's a good idea to go through the settings before searching for a match to adjust the controls and graphic options to your hardware.

My experience with ROS Legacy

Rules of Survival going offline made me quite sad after I had dedicated so many hours to it, so making my way through its maps again with ROS Legacy was a really pleasant surprise. The concept remains very traditional and doesn't stray too far from what you might find in other battle royales like PUBG Mobile, but reviving that direct formula is precisely what made playing it again so much fun.

The best and worst of ROS Legacy

• What I like most about ROS Legacy is that it brings back that classic survival formula: huge maps, almost 100 enemies, and a series of weapons scattered across the setting to get straight to the point.

• What I like least about ROS Legacy is that you can't play without creating an account first. Signing up is simple and doesn't require you to verify the email address, but I'd still prefer to skip that step, if possible.

Huge battles with that classic formula

The game keeps the essence of Rules of Survival alive: drop onto a large island, pick up weapons, and survive against around 100 players in matches lasting about 20 minutes. Sprinkled in along with this formula are different maps, alternative modes, and a wide range of unlockable skins.
