The original ceiling was from the 1960's. We removed it all, used brackets and 2x4's to drop the ceiling 2 inches, built the frames from 1x6's and used drywall for the ceiling tiles. They can be pushed up and slid over to access the ceiling cavity. We also replaced florescent tube lighting with led lighting on dimmers.
