Don and Audrey Wood have to be some of my favorite children's author/illustrators. The humor, mixed with the beautiful array of colors portrayed in the illustrations of their children's books is unmatched. We wore Silly Socks and read Silly Sally. We sequenced the story and drew ourselves upside down! We also wore Shades to school! Here are our Letter S Circle Maps! They are looking good! We wore Slippers on Friday but Most of us Forgot. We also learned about sound this week! We did an experiment to see how the amount of water in in a glass effected the sound that was produced. Hello there! We've been spending a lot of time this week working on rhyming. One of my most FAVORITE activities we do is based on the book Silly Sally by Audrey Wood. We choral read the story, find the rhyming pairs, then brainstorm other animals that the students could meet on their way to town. Each student picks an animal, then creates a rhyme (we do this whole group). Students fill in the blanks on the writing sheet, draw a picture to match, and I take their picture. I have the students…

I can't believe how busy I have gotten in the past month. But I am back!!! A very happy summer to everyone and hope life is treating everyone with kindness, love and happy memories. I love books as do most teachers (I hope!). But what I love about books is the different amount of techniques it can be told in.
