Vanessa Barragão is a Portuguese artist who creates beautiful tapestry from discarded industrial textile waste. The artist grew up in the coastal city of Albufeira and many of her works are inspired by the ocean - coral reefs, underwater plants, and animals are all common themes in the tapestry she creates.

"Here, however, in depicting his own morbid experience, he has let go, and allowed the foreground figure to become distorted by the subjectivized flow of nature; the scream could be interpreted as expressing the agony of the obliteration of human personality by this unifying force." East Harlem has a lot of public art in the form of murals but one creative knitter has brought along something different to the mix. A schoolyard fence on Lexington Avenue by East 105th Street now has large yarn flowers adding a little color into the mix on the fences and have lasted for quite some time. The East Harlem yarn bomber known as Naomi RAG is behind all of the crocheted creations and has works throughout El Barrio and has even knitted a sock around a tree. A lot is really starting…
