Foiling like this saves time and covers more area BUT the reason I like to zigzag right at the part is bc it could become uneven if it’s not perfectly parted where they wear their hair all the time…even if it’s just slightly off. I’ve done a whole head of foils JUST zigzag parting and it came out beautifully and I didn’t have to shadow root. This specific instance we chose to shadow root regardless bc it tends to make her face frame pop and extends the life of her foil! It looks aggressive when you first pull the foils but the end result can be so soft and beautiful! I did root melt but even without the root melt, it really helps to create a seamless blend.
