I tatted another cross for Faith. This is The Yarnplayer's Eternal Rose Cross , a sweet and petite pattern. I tatted a few more of the roses...
I’ve been really busy over the last couple of weeks, with various visitors and lots of other things to do too. I haven’t had much time for blogging, but I have been trying hard to keep …
Happy May Day Does anyone celebrate May Day anymore? Last Sunday, at Church, one of the little boys was looking at his song bird and thought it was a butterfly. Explaining butterflies has four wings, not two. So, I asked him if he wanted a butterfly on a paperclip. This was simple to design, using size 20 thread.
Apart from a few more paper clip projects, which I plan to do in the future, I have exhausted my craze with tatting on them for a while. Also I remembered why I started to begin with, it was because my youngest son loved the one Ellen (Singtatter) gave me, and that was a first for him where tatting is concerned. I have yet to test him on the ones I have made! Thank you to all who gave some very helpful suggestions regarding paper clip patterns. I have yet to pursue them all, but here are the…
Did I say it before? I love butterflies! I still have a lot of bugle beads, only 10 are needed for this one-shuttle pattern: (BB = bugle bead) Six rings: (NOTE all bugle beads are in the core thread, so not in the ring's loop, they slide in place from the shuttle) R1: 1-1 BB 6-1 BB 1; R2: 1 BB 1 +(join to R1) 6 BB 6 BB 1; R3: 3--(long picot)3 ; R4: 1 BB 6 BB 6-1 BB 1; R5: 1 BB 1 +(join to R4) 6 BB 1; Join to first picot in R1 R6: 6, close, tie and cut the thread. I cut the long picot for…
Look what I found when I went home today: Joey has done it with oil pastels. It lifted my spirits looking at the wide grin on the apple and the vibrant colours. Love the way she did the background. Found this in Kristine’s drawer, a bookmark done up by Joey. Joey found all the leftover punch-out shapes and put them together in this little name card for her sister. Ha ha, a little alien on the balloon! I like her sense of colours. She once requested a tatted bookmark in 3 colours of her…
West Pine Creations: Happy May Day
This was designed in March 3, 2020. I was still a tatting newbie at that time, but wanted to make something practical with tatting. So, I came up the idea to tat something on the paperclip, as well…
Snails A quick and fun pattern by, Sharren Sarver Morgan.
I took a page out of Diane's book :-) and added buttons to several headbands. Diane talks about some of hers in this post on her blog Lace-lovin' Librarian. She's been crocheting around buttons but I put tatting around mine instead. I have tatted around buttons before but never thought to put them on this kind of hair accessory. It adds a little something to these bright but plain headbands that's quick and simple. And fun. They were gifted to my daughters and granddaughters for Easter. Last…
Paper clip for the month - Butterflies - click on the link for the pattern at Georgia's Online Tatting Class. This is a simple and quick one, and I had designed it such that you can slip a thin ribbon on it to make a bookmark, in addition to tatting it on a paper clip. You can also tie the ribbon in such a way to make a necklace or make the head ring a little bigger and add a metal ring to hang as a pendant on a necklace chain. Quick and sweet gifts for little girls!
Tatting on paperclip , TIAS 2017 , block heart brooch
One of the many projects that I really wanted to try for some time was attaching tatting to paperclips. When I met Ellen (Singtatter) in Singapore last year she gave me a sunflower on a paperclip one of her own designs which you can see here. Whilst in the USA in September I was eager to purchase some larger paperclips as they were not easy to find in the UK. Over the last few weeks I have been tatting these................ From left to right a butterfly, another of Ellen's designs. The…
