MY FAVOURITE THINGS
inspired by @supereyepatchwolf's videos on his favourite things.
NOVEMBER 2025
OKAY SO maybe i forgot to do this for awhile. oops. oops. oops. i'm also changing up how i format this a bit! testing new things.DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH
i played this when it came out earlier this year, and it's easily one of my favourite games. i love the themes of grief so much. god. it's a really, really solid game and pairs well with the first game.
LONG LIVE EVIL by SARAH REES BRENNAN
this book. THIS BOOK!!!! it stole my heart. i really don't usually like isekais/portal fantasy types, but this book got me in the heart. it's immensely funny, but also constantly punching me in the face with emotions. i love marius. i love the cobra. i love rae and key and lia and emer and—oh, that's pretty much everyone. i'm so excited for all hail chaos next year.
DISPATCH
while not actually being a fav, i think i should give a shoutout to dispatch. i have a bunch of crit about the game, especially the hacking minigame, but i did think it was beautiful, and the dispatch management game was EXTREMELY fun. overall, i really did love some of the characters, notably...
and he doesn't have a matching mug shot but...
do beware this game has full frontal nudity in it if that is something you wish to avoid. also like every curse word known to mankind. flambae says bitch 500 times (love him for this). also there's gore.
RADIO by BERSHY
more importantly, dispatch introduced me to some very cool songs, like radio! i bought it on bershy's bandcamp and you can too! it's been replaying for days now. it's just SO good. you can listen to a playlist containing all of the licensed tracks in dispatch here, the song choices were all very good, radio is just a huge standout to me! probably my favourite song this year, but i do want to give a shout out to THOT SQUAD who had my second and third fav tracks of the game LOL. (and flambae, of course.)
THE LIFE OF CHUCK
i really wanted to watch this movie when it came out, because i'm a pretty consistent King-reader and Flanagan-watcher, but only managed to recently! however, i really liked it. again, i seem to like themes of death and grief and coming to terms with these things, and the life of chuck really nailed the weird opening and the drumming/dancing scene... my god, that was amazing. that made me so happy.
the dancing is great, of course, but like, the drumming! i don't know if the actress for taylor is a drummer irl or if it was recorded over, but a nice touch i noticed was that all of the beats in the song do line up with her drumming. very cool detail at the very least, and an awesome drum beat no matter what.
i'm probably missing things but i'll enter them another time...
AUGUST 2025
actually i'm writing this in september, but i want to gather things for september as the month goes on, so this! is a cheat one! and honestly, these things will not just be from august; i just need a starting point.
: ̗̀➛ HEN NA IE my love. a suspense manga about a floorplan. i won't go deep into it, but it's basically like reading a wikipedia deep dive article and not necessarily a story, but that's what i finally really fascinating about it.
the story seems to be moving in arcs of different stories, so you can always give the first one a shot and go from there.
: ̗̀➛ CASSETTE BEASTS is a pokemon-inspired monster tamer! it's on pc and the switch i believe, and maybe mobile? i genuinely love this game though. the monsters are rad, the characters are adorable (and relatable), and if you are a freak about shiny hunting then. my god. My God. also there are terrifying moments—it takes a pretty mature angle.
these are my favourite monsters. they're sooooo cuuuuute... pixels from the cassette beasts wikia!
: ̗̀➛ LOOK OUTSIDE is a pretty dark indie rpg, beware if body horror and gore is not for you, but that being said... i love this game. i only did one playthrough, but the game is way more complex than you'd think and utterly heart-wrenching at times. GOD. i love rats. did you know i love rats? i love rats. that's important. there's a llllllot of content warnings i'll probably forget, so just know it's. dark. but i really, really love it, and want to pick it back up again sometime.
: ̗̀➛ THIS IS NOT YOUR HOUSE and actually LOOK OUTSIDE were both recs from eyepatch wolf's videos and man. he was right lmao. this game is very short but it put my brain in a blender. big fan.
: ̗̀➛ BALATRO is GOTY i don't know how many hours i've lost to this game. holy shit. my favourite suit is clubs, my favourite joker is all of them, and i love the crt effect the game has going on lmao. surprise.
: ̗̀➛ WEBFISHING got me because i love animal crossing, even though i'm really not in love with the fishing minigames in. any game really. but this is fun and i love just vibing with my friends lmao. the aesthetic is cool too. also there's bullet casings and gambling?
: ̗̀➛ FIELDS OF MISTRIA is last but not least. this is probably the farm sim of my heart, at least until the werewolf murder mystery one comes out. i love this game, the older anime aesthetic, and just. the characters are soooooo cuuuuuute. i want to pick it back up again asap. i want to finally date someone. following along with the character's dnd sessions is cute too.
ok see you all next time where i cry about death stranding, severance, long live evil and! and! probably something else. wait those are spoilers.
