Pretty in Pink - Flying Unicorns  September Kit of the Month

The Flying Unicorns kit for the month of September  has a few surprises tucked up it's Unicorn sleeve.  This month, there are a couple of sheets of BoBunny double dot papers.  They are lovely and very card worthy. 

I grabbed some of the beautiful Prima Rossibelle flowers from the kit and added Spellbinders dies to the mix.  

 Below is a great view of the flowers with the Spellbinders.  I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Card Creator Dies - Divine Eloquence for the center medallion.  Then I used the Spellbinders Borderabilities dies for the pretty delicate center border.

Flying Unicorns July Kit for the Month with Escape Kitty

This is the Flying Unicorns kit for the month of July.  It came packed with the beautiful new paper and flower collection from 49th and Market as well as some cool natural embellishment elements.  

The kit also came with beautiful gold accents and I decided to add purple to the mix - a great companion for the gold.   I also tossed Miss Escape Kitty in as well.  She's hard to keep out of my craft area.  In fact she does a nice job of pawing through the kit before I do. 
 Plus she's never met a basket she didn't love and didn't try to stuff herself in to.  
Show of hands....raise your hand if your cat does that too?  Boxes, baskets, lids of boxes - just so odd.  Escape Kitty will even stuff her tiny little body to fit into a tiny clementine orange crate.  Those are small.   

The butterflies were cut from the  Vintage Artistry collection - Flora and Fauna  12x12 sheet in the kit.  I topped them with some gold trim  from my stash ( Prima Frank Garcia Memory hardware -Cours Mirabeau floral Lace Gold trim).   

In the photo below, I did add my own trims and purple flower from my stash for more purple accents. 

The flowers are from 49th and Market as well and came in the kit.  I inked a few flowers with Distress ink in Seedless Preserves, and topped one with the gold trim from Prima Frank Garcia Memory Hardware.

Flying Unicorns July Release

The July kit from the Flying Unicorns was quite a beautiful treat filled with natural elements and an earthy feel.   The featured collection is 49 and Market.  The papers are beautifully subtle so I kept this piece in all neutrals.

My finished project really did not venture too far from the original inspirational sheet of 12x12 from 49th and Market.  I looked at the soft graphic on the sheet and decided to use that framework.  This sheet is called Botanical Press and you can see that my project pretty much uses the graphics on the page as the design.  

I cut the butterflies or moths from the Flora and Fauna Cutout sheet and layered them over  kraft paper and some woven mesh I had in my stash. 

In the image below, you can see the mesh type material I used.  It cam from the floral department and is like a natural straw type weave.  

I accented the piece with buttons, string and the flowers from 49th and Market that cam in the July kit.  

The chipboard word, Believe, came from Creative Embellishments in a prior Unicorn kit and I left basically unfinished  with exception to the few splatters of gold paint on the word.

Now for the bottom corner of the page...the kit came with a cool little piece of driftwood that I broke in half and incorporated onto the page as my natural element.

Card using the Flying Unicorn Kit and JustRite Dies

The Flying Unicorn Kit has finally arrived!

Time to play with the July kit from the Flying Unicorns.  This month the kit came with a 6x6 pad of Prima's Vintage Emporium paper for the smaller projects, and some vintage buttons and rustic flowers for embellishments. 

I pulled out my JustRite dies to assist in my card making.  The background was made using the following dies shown below:

Here is a close up of the lovely embellishments.  I topped one of the 49th and Market flowers with the vintage button from the kit.  I completed the card with raffia.  

I have about 6 feet of raffia leftover from a 12 ounce packet I bought.  haaaaaa - I thought it was about 12 ounces , then when it arrived it was a crazy giant package.  I could make a nest for Miss Escape Kitty even, or a hula skirt, the possibilities are endless - though I'm trying to use it up one project and card at a time.

Flying Unicorns June Kit "Your Passion Your Art"

This is a card I made using the wonderful soft papers from the Flying Unicorns June kit.  The small project papers this month are from DoCraft - Floral Muse collection.  Since the papers are delicate, I thought I'd continue on with that look.  

I used the Prima flowers and metal trinket that also came in the kit, but added my own stamps and dies from JustRite Papercrafts.

I started the card using the JustRite A2 Cardfront  Basics Dies DIE-05047 and made my card background mats from the DoCraft paper.  These mat dies.....well let me tell ya - my new favorite card making tool.   I used to cut mat after mat after mat and each would have wonky edges.  It would make me nuts.  Then I received the Cardfront Basics Die and it's a perfect cut everytime and super quick.  You can even double up and cut two at once if you want. 

 Man,  that's maximum efficiency!  hahahaah 

The adorable little key charm is from the Flying Unicorn Locks and Keys Metal Adornments.

Card Using Prima and Frank Garcia's French Riviera

Prima and Frank Garcia's French Riviera Collection 

I love the earthy elegance of Prima's French Riviera Collection by Frank Garcia.  That's what makes the collection so versatile.  

I whipped up a quick card featuring some of my favorite products as focal points.  I grabbed the fun Prima IOD mould clock shape, the Prima IOD clay and Frank's amazing Artisan Powders.   The richness of the Artisan Powders accents the warmth of the paper.  

 The clock centerpiece was created using  Prima Iron Orchid - Vintage Art Decor  Moulds - Baroque  6 and Prima's IOD paper clay.  It's an interesting and fun product that requires no baking.  I prefer to let my clay shapes dry overnight before I add any finishing treatments. 

Once the clay mould dried, I mixed the Artisan Powers with a bit of water and painted the clock with the powders.  Then I misted with the Prima Color Bloom mist in Antique Gold to give a golden sheen.  

The darling  metal marine ship wheel is from Flying Unicorns  Metal Adornment collections - Sea Merchant.   A perfect sweet little topper. 

Another fun element on the card is the  2Crafty "Element Set 2" chipboard I selected to go under the clay clock mould.  The chipboard pieces are divine for cards.  I used two of them together here and topped with a clay moulded clock.  These were inked with Distress ink in Walnut Ink, and then misted with Prima's Antique Gold Color Bloom Mist.   They have a gorgeous golden sheen in real life.

The last few finishing elements are the flowers and a brad from the French Riviera collection.

                 Flying Unicorns Kit for the Month of June

This is my last month as Guest Designer for 2Crafty.  I've had a wonderful time working with extraordinarily gorgeous chipboard as well as the talented artists on the team for the past 18 months.  One thing I have always loved doing ids showcasing the chipboard in conjunction with my Flying Unicorn pieces. Today is no exception.   

 I created a layout using the fabulous Flying Unicorn kit for the month of June - packed with Prima goodies and much more. 

This layout uses 2Crafty "Frame Heart String " fr0090 as the main corner decoration as well as  "Live Your Adventure" and " Leafy Twig Branches".  

I kept them all simple as far as treatments go - inked black to pop on the page.

The chipboard and page also  have micro beads here and there adorning them.  The microbeads came from the kit, and they are so cool - from US Art Quest and they are called Mini Prills.

Graceful Cards with Flying Unicorns June Kit

The Flying Unicorns June "Your Passion Your Art" kit was chock full of wonderful delights this month (well always actually).  From the gorgeous delicate 8x8 paper from Craft & You, to the Petaloo flowers this month.  I paired my kit with  some gorgeous accent stamps and dies from JustRite Papercrafts.

I used the JustRite Joy Oval Frame Die (DIE 05049) under the floral cluster.  Then I punched a border with Martha Stewart's Doily Lace Edge punch and stamped a border that says "Thinking of You" in script from JustRite Large Oval Sympathy Stamp ( CR-05055).

As a finishing touch, I topped the card with some blush pink velvet ribbon and added the Petaloo floral cluster featuring Petaloo Textured flowers - Garden Rosettes 1212214.   I added my own leaves and little itty bitty rose buds.

                          Flying Unicorns Kit for the Month of June

The Flying Unicorns kit for the month of June has a cool color scheme - black, gray, lime green and a touch of light green.  It's also brimming with Prima products.    The papers for June are from Prima's Salvage District collection.  

This card really plays up the lime green accent color with the Petaloo Botanica Anemone flower in pistachio.  

There are some cool elements that came in the kit that were perfect for adding interesting accents - micro balls in teal and seafoam colors- US ArtQuest Mini Prills.  I loved them!
