𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀, 𝘀𝗼: 🗓️ check that you and your children are up to date with recommended vaccinations according to your national schedule 👩⚕️ if doses have been missed, speak to a healthcare professional about how to catch up. The Chief Scientist will lead the Scientific Evidence and Communication Unit, a team of around 40 people, and take responsibility for the quality, relevance, integrity and independence of scientific advice across the Centre. West Nile virus season is not over yet 🦟 West Nile virus activity remains high in parts of Europe, with high case numbers reported in Italy and Greece, and notable activity in North Macedonia as well. Across Europe, 1,086 human cases of West Nile virus have been reported in 15 countries as of 3 September. With the transmission season still ongoing, more cases are expected in the coming weeks. Prevention remains important, and there are simple ways to reduce the risk of mosquito bites: use repellent, wear clothing that covers the skin, and use window screens or mosquito nets where needed.
