Ursus arctos arctos, one of the most common subspecies of brown bear, inhabits northern Eurasia.

Weather is very rainy with high winds today. So, looking through my photos saved in iPhoto. Don't get to many shots of standing bears. They really look impressive when they do stand. Bears usually stand to get a better look when they aren't quite sure about what their other senses are telling them. It isn't a threat posture.

In the previous images, I displayed the battle between two dominant male Grizzly Bears (Ursus arctos horribilis) looking to establish breeding rights and the loser of this battle. The black coloured Grizzly Bear vanquished the other bear who limped away from the battle with some serious wounds. The blood on this bears mouth is likely from the wounds inflicted by its biting the losing bear in the neck region.
