Tuskegee airmen

Battling pernicious racial stereotypes about their fitness for combat, the Tuskegee Airmen more than proved their skill and valor in World War II.

In an era when blacks were thought incapable of flying airplanes, Eleanor Roosevelt went up with a black pilot at the controls. By doing so, she helped establish the famed Tuskegee Airmen of WW2.
