Mind-mapping and making things visual (and colourful) really helps kids (and adults) create a go-to
At school, I often create a “reminder binder” with them, which becomes their go-to place to look for ideas or strategies that help them throughout the day✨The amazing thing about these reminder binders is that each child can make the reminder binder in any way they want - they create the cover for it; we work together on drawing or writing up the ideas in creative ways that they like; we add new ideas to each separate strategy sheet as they naturally come up…✨
Are you listening to your emotions?
Many of us are not in tune with our emotions, especially the uncomfortable, ‘negative’ ones. But these difficult feelings, like fear, sadness and anger, are key to our survival as they give us clues about things that can affect our wellbeing and need our attention. So instead of suppressing our negative emotions, it would be more helpful if we get curious about them. For example, by asking ourselves: “What is this emotion trying to tell me?” and “What do I need to pay attention to?”
