Book Review – Sunshine Sewing

December 3, 2025 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

If you’re a fan of all things whimsical and adore a soft, summery aesthetic, Tilda Sunshine Sewing by Tone Finnanger might just be your new crafting crush. This book is filled with sunshine-soaked inspiration and the kind of projects that make you want to pour a glass of lemonade, sit by the window, and sew the afternoon away.

From the moment you open it, the book feels like a breath of fresh air. There are 12 gorgeous projects inside—everything from full-sized quilts to playful little softies like fabric mermaids, lemons, and starfish. One standout for me is the Lemonade Quilt—it’s bright, cheerful, and just the right amount of playful. The smaller projects like the plush lemons and starfish would make adorable pincushions or cheerful shelf décor.

One of the things I really appreciated is how approachable everything feels. Whether you’re an experienced sewer or just getting comfortable with your sewing machine, the instructions are clear, and the full-size templates take the guesswork out of the process. It’s the kind of book that makes you feel encouraged to dive in and try something new, even if it’s outside your usual sewing comfort zone.

The photography in the book is beautiful—think cozy, sun-drenched rooms filled with handmade charm. Every page offers a little visual delight, and it’s not just about showing you how the finished projects look; it’s also about inspiring you to style and use them in real life. It really captures the carefree, colorful vibe of summer in the loveliest way.

Tilda Sunshine Sewing is more than just a pattern book—it’s like a mini vacation in fabric form. If you love soft colors, dreamy designs, and a relaxed sewing experience, this one’s definitely worth picking up. It would also make a beautiful gift for a crafty friend. Just be warned: once you start flipping through it, you’ll want to make everything!
