NORTHERN LIGHTS TRIANGLE LAP BLANKET

NORTHERN LIGHTS BANKET
UK TERMS
5mm hook

Double Strand blanket, a fabulous mix of the new James C Brett, Northern Lights in col. NL3 and 4 shade of WYS Sock yarn.
A Subtly, colourful, textured blanket made in large, close 'v' stitch triangles. Joined together they will make a lap blanket almost but not quite square

Work a strand of each yarn tog. as one yarn, with 5mm hook

MAKE 8 TRIANGLES
WORKING Northern Lights yarn and sock yarn as one yarn
Col. 1: Northern Lights + Blue Lagoon WYS sock yarn x4 triangles,
Col. 2: Northern lights + 2 Sherbet Fizz WYS sock yarn triangles,
Col. 3: Northern Lights + 1 Tequila Sunrise WYS Sock yarn triangle,
Col. 4: Northern Lights + 1 Rum Paradise WYS Sock yarn triangle,
Match each of the Blue triangles with one of these other cols.

All joining is done with the Northern Lights and the WYS Tequila Sunrise col. 3, the chain stitch rows of the block stitch are also done with this col.3 Tequila Sunrise

The Blocks of the block stitch border are Northern lights and the WYS Rum Paradise col. 4

The finishing round of fans and Bow stitch are a mix of Northern Lights and the WYS Sherbet Fizz col. 2.

TRIANGLE PATTERN
UK TEMS
NOTES: 'Close V st', is 2dc with no ch st, between and is worked between the 2tr, not into the stitches.
An increase of one 'close v st', on each row, will give an almost right angle triangle.
Be careful of mistaking the spaces between the 'close v st', as 'v' sts.
After the first few rows this will be easier  to see and only a possible problem in the first 2 close 'v' sts, as they are in the same st.

ROW 1: ch3, 3tr, into 3rd st from hook. [2cv, sts]
ROW 2: ch3, turn, tr, into first sp, [first 'cv' st], miss the next sp, [don't mistake this for the next 'cv' st], 4tr, into last sp. [3cv, sts]

ROW 3: ch3, turn, tr, into first cv st, 2tr, [cv], into next cv, 4tr, [2cv], into last cv. [3cv, sts]

ROW 4: ch3, turn, tr, in first sp, [cv], 2tr, [cv], into next cv, st, 2tr, [cv], into next cv, st, 4tr,  [2cv], into last cv.

ROW 5 - 27: ch3, turn and repeat 1cv, in each cv, with 2cv, in last cv, giving you the one cv increase per row.

Final Row will have 28cv, stitches

Lay the triangles out, one blue triangle with each of the other cols. as diagram

STRIPES SCARF, repeat 9" of 2 sts.

the inspiration was a summer dress fabric, using Stripes 25% wool mix from Wilkinson's and a soft charcoal black merino wool
decided to change stitch after approx. 9" of each st, and repeat until it's long enough for me.
First row of 'v' sts, needs to be the traditional v st. with the ch 1 between the 2 dc, or its too tight using this merino yarn.
Other wise i'm just repeating the 2 st, pattern every 9"

I like my scarves long so aiming for around 6' and i will add the weight of yarn when its completed

Giant Flower

This Giant flower, measures over 28" in diameter, drawn to scale before i started, the whole blanket was going to be approx. 6' in diameter but i think a repeat of the flower looks OK too...

several versions of these giant flowers in my sample boxes...
