Generative artificial intelligence
Generative artificial intelligence or generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that processes information (called data) which is given to it, and remixes this data to create new things that are similar to the information it was given. ChatGPT is one famous type of generative AI.[1]
A generative AI can be shown a lot of images and then used to create new images based on what it has already been shown. Generative AI can also be used to create writing, videos or sounds in the same way.[2] Generative AI's are not alive and can not think for themselves like a person, but the text and videos they create can sometimes trick people into thinking that the AI is alive.[3]
