Critique

[change source]

Complex and long-winded. Overall, follows the sources too closely thereby picking up much of their complexity. Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:47, 26 December 2023 (UTC).[reply]

Things to consider when extending..

[change source]

This article has existed since 2004. It may be one of the oldest article this Wikipedia has. I know that people talk about "artificial intelligence" a lot recently. So anyone extending or changing the article, please keep in mind:

  • We write in simple language. When you add things, try to use language that is easy to understand. You can use specific vocabulary you need, but try to explain or define the terms you use.
  • In the end, this will likely be an overview article, linking to more specific articles.
  • Good sources are useful. Press releases usually don't make good sources.

"AGI" seems unmentioned

[change source]

Artificial general intelligence (or AGI), is (a idea or) hypothetical technology. Thoughts? 2001:2020:31B:B8E1:2D0E:8376:B0EB:651F (talk) 18:49, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

EnWp uses the term "Generative Artificial Intelligence". en:Generative artificial intelligence. If you introduce it in the article you'll create a red-link. Have you thoght about how do explain it in simple langage? Eptalon (talk) 19:01, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
While we don't mind redlinks on this project, I agree with Eptalon wherein it will be especially difficult to in simple English the complex ideas of generative AI. This is why I removed the mention until such time as a talented editor is able to create an appropriate article. Operator873 connect 19:05, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_general_intelligence . That is
[[Artificial general intelligence (or AGI).--Not the same as Generative artificial intelligence]]. 2001:2020:31B:B8E1:5F5:4AA8:1FE3:DD2B (talk) 20:31, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

True, the same as above applies though: If you add a link to this article, can you find a good way of defining it,in simple language. As to the subject itself: I don't believe it will happen in the next decade... Eptalon (talk) 20:55, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article has been locked for six months (for IPs).--Y'all might want to work on the first sentence (in the lede), first.--Thank you for user:Eptalon's suggestion, anyway - i will keep the suggestion in mind, in case i edit the article next year. 2001:2020:31B:B8E1:796F:99B2:7E23:DF89 (talk) 22:41, 9 June 2024 (UTC)/ 2001:2020:31B:B8E1:5F5:4AA8:1FE3:DD2B[reply]

Say it ain't so

[change source]

Is the following an okay first sentence, i ask rhetorically:
"Artificial intelligence (AI or A.I.) is a computer program or a machine that is able to learn and mimic human cognition". 2001:2020:31B:B8E1:D00C:16B4:9112:DE24 (talk) 22:15, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rhetorically, yes. It's ok. Much better than <!-- Commenting out --> what I don't like. Don't you think? By the way, that's bad form on any project and I left you a warning on WP:ANI about it too. Operator873 connect 01:42, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A.I. used (as a tool) for research

[change source]

As of year 2024. Supposedly New York Times has (recently) written about research that has used A.I. to anaylyze-or-find-patterns-or-whatever.--Sound-communication between elephants is what the research seems to have given opinions about, or made conclusions about.-- Please post links on this page if a wiki-notable source says something notable about the mentioned research (or how A.I. was used in notable/noted research). 2001:2020:30D:A858:CD1A:676:F4D6:A47D (talk) 14:29, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"AI PC" (non-specific category of PC (personal computer))

[change source]

2024's second quarter: "the definition of an AI PC and what specs it needs is still [not clear, or] vague", according to media. Link, https://www.bangkokpost.com/life/tech/2813709/what-is-an-ai-pc-?tbref=hp. Published in Bangkok Post (today).--If En-wiki articles start using the word/name/phrase: AI PC, then please inform this Talk-page. 80.67.37.2 (talk) 15:59, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Checklist (of sorts)

[change source]

Daron Acemoglu, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daron_Acemoglu, is a somewhat relevant person in regard to AI.--I have not checked if the En-wiki article about him, tells about the relevance.--Step one: find a relevant link or reveal other source. 2001:2020:329:A884:B13B:94BA:E21B:DB13 (talk) 17:00, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
