In early 1971, ideas for a more socially conscious album were being proposed. Jack Rieley in particular was pushing the concept of writing about the environment and polution. The band was intrigued as they felt they could continue to explore the concepts SMiLE had done before.
The singles released at this time were "Long Promised Road" and the flip side was "Feel Flows". The second single was "Disney Girls (1957)" and the flip side was "Don't Go Near The Water".
This wasn't the end, as 1973 would be the band's final chapter.
