Testing distributed systems under hard failures like network partitions and instance termination is critical, but it's also important we test them under less catastrophic conditions because this is what they most often experience. Comcast is a tool designed to simulate common network problems like latency, bandwidth restrictions, and dropped/reordered/corrupted packets. It works by wrapping up some system tools in a portable(ish) way. On BSD-derived systems such as OSX, we use tools like ipfw and pfctl to inject failure. On Linux, we use iptables and tc. Comcast is merely a thin wrapper around these controls. Windows support may be possible with wipfw or even the native network stack, but this has not yet been implemented in Comcast and may be at a later date. On Linux, Comcast supports several options: device, latency, target/default bandwidth, packet loss, protocol, and port number. -

Eclair (French for Lightning) is a Scala implementation of the Lightning Network. This software follows the Lightning Network Specifications (BOLTs). Other implementations include c-lightning, lnd, electrum, and rust-lightning. Eclair offers a feature-rich HTTP API that enables application developers to easily integrate. Eclair's JSON API should NOT be accessible from the outside world (similarly to Bitcoin Core API). Eclair requires Bitcoin Core 0.20.1 or 0.21.1. (other versions of Bitcoin Core are not actively tested - use at your own risk). If you are upgrading an existing wallet, you may need to create a new address and send all your funds to that address. Eclair needs a synchronized, segwit-ready, zeromq-enabled, wallet-enabled, non-pruning, tx-indexing Bitcoin Core node. You must configure your Bitcoin node to use bech32 (segwit) addresses. -

Install DCOS CLI and configure for use "inside the cluster" with configured master nodes. The configuration relies on Mesos DNS to provide the Mesos master and Marathon endpoints. -

The main implication of this requirement is the need to reload NGINX after any change in the configuration file. Though it is important to note that we don't reload Nginx on changes that impact only an upstream configuration (i.e Endpoints change when you deploy your app). We use lua-nginx-module to achieve this. Check below to learn more about how it's done. Usually, a Kubernetes Controller utilizes the synchronization loop pattern to check if the desired state in the controller is updated or a change is required. To this purpose, we need to build a model using different objects from the cluster, in particular (in no special order) Ingresses, Services, Endpoints, Secrets, and Configmaps. -

High-performance routing engine written in C++14 designed to run on OpenStreetMap data. There are several services available via HTTP API, C++ library interface and NodeJs wrapper. Nearest, snaps coordinates to the street network and returns the nearest matches. Route finds the fastest route between coordinates. Table computes the duration or distances of the fastest route between all pairs of supplied coordinates. Match snaps noisy GPS traces to the road network in the most plausible way. Trip solves the Traveling Salesman Problem using a greedy heuristic. Tile generates Mapbox Vector Tiles with internal routing metadata. To quickly try OSRM use our demo server which comes with both the backend and a frontend on top. The easiest and quickest way to setup your own routing engine is to use Docker images we provide. We base our Docker images (backend, frontend) on Debian and make sure they are as lightweight as possible. -
