Library and command line tools for XZ and LZMA compressed files

LZ4 is lossless compression algorithm, providing compression speed > 500 MB/s per core (>0.15 Bytes/cycle). It features an extremely fast decoder, with speed in multiple GB/s per core (~1 Byte/cycle). A high compression derivative, called LZ4_HC, is available, trading customizable CPU time for compression ratio. LZ4 library is provided as open-source software using a BSD license. This benchmark simulates simple "static content transfer" scenario such as OS Kernel compression or video game's static assets (text/images/tables/scripts/etc) which loading from Flash Memory / HDD / SSD. In this case, compression time is completely ignored. Because only content developers compress the data at once and usually they don't care about its computational cost. But they always care end user's experience a.k.a. "loading time" and bandwidth. Please pay attention to "LZ4HC -9" which is quite faster than other methods.

Zstandard is a fast compression algorithm, providing high compression ratios. It also offers a special mode for small data, called dictionary compression. The reference library offers a very wide range of speed / compression trade-off, and is backed by an extremely fast decoder (see benchmarks below). Zstandard library is provided as open source software using a BSD license. Its format is stable and published as IETF RFC 8478. The negative compression levels, specified with --fast=#, offer faster compression and decompression speed in exchange for some loss in compression ratio compared to level 1, as seen in the table above. Zstd can trade compression speed for stronger compression ratios. It is configurable by small increment. Decompression speed is preserved and remain roughly the same at all settings, a property shared by most LZ compression algorithms, such as zlib or lzma.

Abbrevia is a compression toolkit for Delphi, C++Builder, Kylix, and Free Pascal. It supports compressing and decompressing PKZIP, Microsoft CAB, tar, gzip, and bzip2 archives, and can create self-extracting executables. On Windows it also provides Delphi wrappers for the LZMA, Bzip2, and WavPack SDKs, and PPMd decompression. Abbrevia also has several visual controls that simplify displaying and manipulating archives, including treeview and listview components.

At this point this project is mainly wpkg which is a replica of dpkg and apt-get that works under Microsoft Windows and Unices. m23 is a free software distribution system (license: GPL), that installs (via network, starting with partitioning and formatting) and administrates (updates, adds / removes software, adds / removes scripts) clients with Debian, (X/K)Ubuntu and LinuxMint. This application is intended to make a diff files for the backup purposes. Imagine that you have a VM with 10GB vmdk file that you backup every day. So, you need to keep 100GB (let say 60GB with compression) for 10 days. However from those 10GB file only ~500MB is daily changed and you can shrink your backup storage to 15GB, if you keep only the daily difference. The BinDiff makes this job for you. Initially you make a full copy of vmfk file (let's say every month or two). That time you also make a hash file to track the block changes. You keep the hash file (which is small enough) and every day make a differential file from vmdk file that you keep on the backup storage. Profit! For the recovery BinDiff merges the latest available diff file with the initial vmdk file and gives you the full vmdk on that day. You can also make/check md5 checksums if necessary. Note that BinDiff tracks 4kB block changes only (VMware vmdk does it and HyperV I guess too).

phpEasyVCS is a simple version control system (VCS) with minimal hosting requirements, namely PHP 5.2+. No database is needed. Files can be viewed and uploaded with a browser or by WebDAV, which allows you to access the files like a local drive in all operating systems. For integration with other software a REST service is provided. It is very easy to view the file versions at a specific point in time.
