    Mozilla JPEG Encoder Project

    Mozilla JPEG Encoder Project

    Improved JPEG encoder

MozJPEG improves JPEG compression efficiency achieving higher visual quality and smaller file sizes at the same time. It is compatible with the JPEG standard, and the vast majority of the world's deployed JPEG decoders. MozJPEG is compatible with the libjpeg API and ABI. It is intended to be a drop-in replacement for libjpeg. MozJPEG is a strict superset of libjpeg-turbo's functionality. All MozJPEG's improvements can be disabled at run time, and in that case it behaves exactly like libjpeg-turbo. MozJPEG is meant to be used as a library in graphics programs and image processing tools. We include a demo cjpeg command-line tool, but it's not intended for serious use. We encourage authors of graphics programs to use libjpeg's C API and link with MozJPEG library instead. Progressive encoding with "jpegrescan" optimization. It can be applied to any JPEG file (with jpegtran) to losslessly reduce file size.

    PlaystoreDownloader

    PlaystoreDownloader

A command line tool to download Android applications

A command line tool to download Android applications directly from the Google Play Store by specifying their package name (an initial one-time configuration is required) PlaystoreDownloader is a tool for downloading Android applications directly from the Google Play Store. After an initial (one-time) configuration, applications can be downloaded by specifying their package name. There are two ways of getting a working copy of PlaystoreDownloader on your own computer: either by using Docker or by using directly the source code in a Python 3 environment. In both cases, the first thing to do is to get a local copy of this repository, so open up a terminal in the directory where you want to save the project and clone the repository. Apart from valid Google Play Store credentials, the only requirement of this project is a working Python 3 (at least 3.7) installation and pipenv (for dependency management).

    Electron Packager

    Electron Packager

Customize and package your Electron app with OS-specific bundles

Electron Packager is a command line tool and Node.js library that bundles Electron-based application source code with a renamed Electron executable and supporting files into folders ready for distribution. For creating distributables like installers and Linux packages, consider using either Electron Forge (which uses Electron Packager internally), or one of the related Electron tools, which utilizes Electron Packager-created folders as a basis. Note that packaged Electron applications can be relatively large. A zipped, minimal Electron application is approximately the same size as the zipped prebuilt binary for a given target platform, target arch, and Electron version (files named electron-v${version}-${platform}-${arch}.zip). Building an Electron app for the Windows target platform requires editing the Electron.exe file. Currently, Electron Packager uses node-rcedit to accomplish this.

    KeepingYouAwake

    KeepingYouAwake

Prevents your Mac from going to sleep

KeepingYouAwake is a small menu bar utility for macOS (Version 10.12 and newer) that can prevent your Mac from entering sleep mode for a predefined duration or as long as it is activated. The app is a small wrapper around Apple's caffeinate command line utility. All current versions of macOS ship with this tool by default. On a MacBook this only works as long as the lid is open. This utility will not harm your Mac because it is based on an official command line tool by Apple. Version 1.5.2 is the latest release that supports macOS Yosemite and El Capitan. KeepingYouAwake uses Sparkle's ui-separation-and-xpc branch to deliver updates. You can build and sign Sparkle with make Vendor. To build a release version of the app just run make dist.

    Manticore

    Manticore

    Symbolic execution tool

Manticore helps us quickly take advantage of symbolic execution, taint analysis, and instrumentation to analyze binaries. Parts of Manticore underpinned our symbolic execution capabilities in the Cyber Grand Challenge. As an open-source tool, we hope that others can take advantage of these capabilities in their own projects. We prioritized simplicity and usability while building Manticore. We used minimal external dependencies and our API should look familiar to anyone with exploitation or reversing background. If you have never used such a tool before, give Manticore a try. Manticore comes with an easy-to-use command line tool that quickly generates new program “test cases” (or sample inputs) with symbolic execution. Each test case results in a unique outcome when running the program, like a normal process exit or crash (e.g., invalid program counter, invalid memory read/write).

Apps are wrapped by Electron (using Chromium under the hood) in an OS executable (.app, .exe, etc) for use on Windows, macOS and Linux. Nativefier will try to determine the app name, and well as lots of other options. If desired, these options can be overwritten. For example, to override the name, nativefier --name 'My Medium App' 'medium.com' Read the API documentation or run nativefier --help to learn about other command-line flags usable to configure the packaged app. For a list of build commands contributed by the nativefier community take a look at the CATALOG.md file. Nativefier is also usable from Docker. You can pass Nativefier flags, and mount volumes to provide local files.

    Notcurses

    Notcurses

blingful character graphics/TUI library. definitely not curses

A library facilitating complex TUIs on modern terminal emulators, supporting vivid colors, multimedia, threads, and Unicode to the maximum degree possible. Things can be done with Notcurses that simply can't be done with NCURSES. It is furthermore fast as shit. What it is not: a source-compatible X/Open Curses implementation, nor a replacement for NCURSES on existing systems. Notcurses abandons the X/Open Curses API bundled as part of the Single UNIX Specification. For some necessary background, consult Thomas E. Dickey's superb and authoritative NCURSES FAQ. As such, Notcurses is not a drop-in Curses replacement. Wherever possible, Notcurses makes use of the Terminfo library shipped with NCURSES, benefiting greatly from its portability and thoroughness. Notcurses opens up advanced functionality for the interactive user on workstations, phones, laptops, and tablets, possibly at the expense of e.g. some industrial and retail terminals.

A tool to install, manage and use Progressive Web Apps (PWAs)

A tool to install, manage and use Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) in Mozilla Firefox. Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) are web apps that use web APIs and features along with a progressive enhancement strategy to bring a native app-like user experience to cross-platform web applications. Although Firefox supports many of Progressive Web App APIs, it does not support functionality to install them as a standalone system app with an app-like experience. This project creates a custom-modified Firefox runtime to allow websites to be installed as standalone apps and provides a console tool and browser extension to install, manage and use them. Command-line tool to install, manage and run Progressive Web Apps in Firefox. Extension to set up native programs, and install, manage and run PWAs and their profiles directly from the main Firefox browser. Isolated Firefox installation and profile(s) that stores the PWAs.

    jdbc2csv.jar

    Command-line sql JDBC tool

jdbc2csv is a small command-line tool written in JAVA and can be used on all platforms, for which JRE 8 or higher is available. To connect to a specific DBMS the tool uses its JDBC driver. The result of the executed 'select' query is displayed in CSV format ( different standards are supported ). When there is an error the tool stops with exit code 1 and the error message is output on stderr. jdbc2csv is created with a main purpose to be used in shell-scripts. Relatively easy to configurate, this tool is suitable for queries ‘select’, ‘update’ and ‘delete’. I think that is not suitable for a large number of requests, like 'insert'.

    Capslock

    Capslock

Tool to remap Caps Lock key behavior on Windows systems

Capslock is a command-line tool for analyzing the capabilities of Go packages to reveal what privileged operations their code and dependencies can perform. Rather than detecting vulnerabilities, Capslock focuses on identifying capabilities — permissions implied by calls to sensitive or privileged standard library functions, such as file system access, networking, or process control. By following transitive call graphs, it classifies which security-sensitive operations each package can reach, giving developers visibility into what their dependencies are capable of doing. This helps apply the Principle of Least Privilege to Go software, guiding audits, supply chain reviews, and trust assessments. Capslock aims to make security posture analysis more proactive by surfacing capability-based risk signals before malicious or overly powerful code is introduced into production.

    Dbmate

    Dbmate

A lightweight, framework-agnostic database migration tool

Dbmate is a database migration tool, to keep your database schema in sync across multiple developers and your production servers. It is a standalone command line tool, which can be used with Go, Node.js, Python, Ruby, PHP, or any other language or framework you are using to write database-backed applications. This is especially helpful if you are writing many services in different languages, and want to maintain some sanity with consistent development tools. Supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, and ClickHouse. Uses plain SQL for writing schema migrations. Migrations are timestamp-versioned, to avoid version number conflicts with multiple developers. Migrations are run atomically inside a transaction. Supports creating and dropping databases (handy in development/test). Supports saving a schema.sql file to easily diff schema changes in git. Database connection URL is defined using an environment variable (DATABASE_URL by default), or specified on the command line.

    Filament

    Filament

Real-time physically based rendering engine for Android, iOS, and more

Filament is a real-time physically-based renderer written in C++. It is mobile-first, but also multi-platform. We are very conscientious about keeping Filament small, fast to load, and focused on rendering. For example, Filament does not compile materials at run time. Instead, we provide a command line tool (matc) that does this offline. Filament is a physically based rendering (PBR) engine for Android. The goal of Filament is to offer a set of tools and APIs for Android developers that will enable them to create high quality 2D and 3D rendering with ease. For both artists and developers, our system will rely on as few parameters as possible to reduce trial and error and allow users to quickly master the material model. A physically based approach must not preclude non-realistic rendering. User interfaces for instance will need unlit materials. Our primary goal is to design and implement a rendering system able to perform efficiently on mobile platforms.

    Hetzner k3s

    Hetzner k3s

A CLI tool to install and manage Kubernetes clusters in Hetzner Cloud

This is a CLI tool to quickly create and manage Kubernetes clusters in Hetzner Cloud using the lightweight Kubernetes distribution k3s from Rancher. Hetzner Cloud is an awesome cloud provider which offers a truly great service with the best performance/cost ratio in the market. With Hetzner's Cloud Controller Manager and CSI driver you can provision load balancers and persistent volumes very easily. k3s is my favorite Kubernetes distribution now because it uses much less memory and CPU, leaving more resources to workloads. It is also super quick to deploy because it's a single binary. Using this tool, creating a highly available k3s cluster with 3 masters for the control plane and 3 worker nodes takes a few minutes only. The tool assigns the label cluster to each server it creates for static node pools (this doesn't apply to autoscaled node pools), with the cluster name you specify in the config file, as the value.

    J2ObjC

    J2ObjC

A Java to iOS Objective-C translation tool and runtime

J2ObjC is an open-source command-line tool from Google that translates Java source code to Objective-C for the iOS (iPhone/iPad) platform. This tool enables Java source to be part of an iOS application's build, as no editing of the generated files is necessary. The goal is to write an app's non-UI code (such as application logic and data models) in Java, which is then shared by web apps (using GWT), Android apps, and iOS apps. J2ObjC supports most Java language and runtime features required by client-side application developers, including exceptions, inner and anonymous classes, generic types, threads and reflection. JUnit test translation and execution is also supported. J2ObjC cannot convert Android binary applications. Developers must have source code for their Android app, which they either own or are licensed to use.

    Sourcery

    Sourcery

Meta-programming for Swift, stop writing boilerplate code

Sourcery is a code generator for Swift language, built on top of Apple's own SwiftSyntax. It extends the language abstractions to allow you to generate boilerplate code automatically. It's used in over 40,000 projects on both iOS and macOS and it powers some of the most popular and critically-acclaimed apps you have used (including Airbnb, Bumble, New York Times). Its massive community adoption was one of the factors that pushed Apple to implement derived Equality and automatic Codable conformance. Sourcery is maintained by a growing community of contributors. Try Sourcery for your next project or add it to an existing one, you'll save a lot of time and be happy you did! Sourcery allows you to get rid of repetitive code and create better architecture and developer workflows. An example might be implementing Mocks for all your protocols, without Sourcery you will need to write hundreds lines of code per each protocol.
