binreplace is a command line tool to search and replace binary sequences in a file. It can be very powerful when used together with grep and sed. It uses prefix tree internally to search. It's efficient even with millions of search terms.

A Linux/UNIX command line tool to find duplicate files. The tool supports multiple ways to consider a set of files as duplicates to each other (e.g. content, size, name ... etc.).

flickrsync is a command line tool written in Perl that aims to backup a complete directory structure to Flickr. It creates separate albums on Flickr based on the directory structure of the images. The main goal is to upload all pictures without requiring to move them to new folders. It relies on a few Perl packages mainly to handle HTTP requests and the file system. LZHW Command Line Lossless Compression Tool is a Windows command line tool used to compress and decompress files from and to any form, csv, excel etc without any dependencies or installations. Using an optimized algorithm (LZHW) developed from Lempel-Ziv, Huffman and LZ-Welch algorithms. The tool can work in parallel and most of its code is written in Cython, so it is pretty fast. mfork is a command-line tool to parallelize shell commands. Each line of text fed to it causes mfork to fork off a new process and run the the line of text though a shell. The maximum amount of concurrent processes can be set on the command line.

First perl-based configuration tool for nagios (http://nagios.org). Uses Web-interface and/or Command line tool. Requires: DBD::mysql, DBI::mysql, CGI. Is a real alternate against PHP configuration tools.

progrep is a command-line tool (Linux) to show live progress report, status & stats of a running simulation or compute job that executes a given number of iterations. It shows % completed, time remaining, time elapsed, number of threads, MPI_Rank(if any), CPU usage & speed (FPS). The FPS measures may be used in benchmarking, e.g. while optimizing HPC algorithms for performance. progrep supports both single-threaded and parallel (multicore/multinode - e.g. OpenMP/MPI) jobs. progrep can also report for jobs running on remote hosts, e.g. jobs running on Linux Clusters. progrep works in client-server model. The server can be installed in your simulation source code with only 4 extra lines (API). When the progrep command is invoked, it queries this server as a client. progrep does not interfere with or slow down your simulation when not invoked. pv-migrate is a CLI tool/kubectl plugin to easily migrate the contents of one Kubernetes PersistentVolumeClaim to another. On Kubernetes, if you need to rename a resource (like a Deployment) or to move it to a different namespace, you can simply create a copy of its manifest with the new namespace and/or name and apply it. However, it is not as simple with PersistentVolumeClaim resources: They are not only metadata, but they also store data in the underlying storage backend. In these cases, moving the data stored in the PVC can become a problem, making migrations more difficult.

pythonswitcher is a command line tool to switch between the 2 python versions (Python2 or python3) on your linux system. Why switch between the python versions ? Good question !! In fact, python2 and python3 have different syntaxes. So some programs will requier the correct python version according to the version they are based on

q is a command line tool that allows direct execution of SQL-like queries on CSVs/TSVs (and any other tabular text files). q treats ordinary files as database tables, and supports all SQL constructs, such as WHERE, GROUP BY, JOINs etc. It supports automatic column name and column type detection, and provides full support for multiple encodings. q fully supports all types of encoding. Use -e data-encoding to set the input data encoding, -Q query-encoding to set the query encoding, and use -E output-encoding to set the output encoding. Sensible defaults are in place for all three parameters. Files with BOM: Files which contain a BOM (Byte Order Mark) are not properly supported inside python's csv module. q contains a workaround that allows reading UTF8 files which contain a BOM - Use -e utf-8-sig for this. The plan is to separate the BOM handling from the encoding itself, which would allow to support BOMs for all encodings.

Little command line tool implementing a ring buffer which can be flushed by a signal. With a second signal the buffer can be discarded. I use it for preparing a recording from a dvb device so a record sart will catch also the last seconds before.
