Open Source GIS Software

Viking is a free/open source program to manage GPS data. You can import, plot and create tracks, routes and waypoints, show OSM, Bing Aerial and other maps, geotag images, create routes using OSRM, see real-time GPS position (not in Windows), make maps using Mapnik (not in Windows), control items, etc. It is written in mostly in C (with some C++) & the GTK+3 toolkit. Viking is currently dual managed - with a corresponding Github presence at: https://github.com/viking-gps/viking Where you may find it easier to view the code and raise issues there too.

NOTE: Code commits are FROZEN on SourceForge: New code is now at <http://github.com/Xastir/Xastir>. Real-time tracking & messaging of stations via radio/internet APRS data streams, w/125 map formats supported. Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris/MacOSX/Windows in any of 7 languages. GpsPrune is a java application to view and manage coordinate data, eg from GPS units. With it you can load a variety of text and Xml formats, view the data (in 2d and 3d), edit and convert the data, correlate photos and audio, create charts and more.

wlandscape is a tool for collecting access point data of public wireless networks ( wlan ) in order to share it with anyone. It also supports gps and visualisation with the help of topographical maps. Visit our homepage for further informations.

Karto allows to calibrate a scanned map (or aerial photos) with some known geo-points (Lambert, UTM, ...). After that, you can add any points (GPS points) in the map to build your own map. You can also add a transparent GIF image in the map after calibration (cave, mines, roads, ...). You can realize your own cartes with the data you add inside adding/showing/hiding layers of data. You can import/export your data files (after checking and correcting them) in differents formats.

Narvik is a tool for conducting numerical and visual analysis in cartography.

NrdbView is GIS (Geographic Information System) for displaying and editing of spatial data stored in .shp shapefiles( M, Z and Multipatch). NRDB View Use FreeImage lib to display georeferenced images. Actually MFC c++ but working on WxWidget migrating.

A set of excel templates that provide and use a new function "Luftlinie". This function determines the direct distance between two German (Polish, Czech, Austrian, Swiss) postal areas. Based on the geo data from the opengeodb and geonames.org projects.
