Open Source GIS Software

OpenJUMP is a community driven fork of JUMP the "Java Unified Mapping Platform" GIS software. The original JUMP was developed by Vivid Solutions, released under GPL2 in 2003 and discontinued in 2006. During 2004 already some enthusiastic developers joined together to enhance further the features of JUMP. They launched an independent development branch called OpenJUMP. The name gives credit to the original JUMP development, and at the same time describes the objectives of this project to be fully open to anyone wanting to contribute. These days OpenJUMP is developed and maintained by (some few) volunteers around the globe. Viking is a free/open source program to manage GPS data. You can import, plot and create tracks, routes and waypoints, show OSM, Bing Aerial and other maps, geotag images, create routes using OSRM, see real-time GPS position (not in Windows), make maps using Mapnik (not in Windows), control items, etc. It is written in mostly in C (with some C++) & the GTK+3 toolkit. OpenGTS (Open Source GPS Tracking System) is a full featured web-based GPS tracking system for your fleet of vehicles. It supports OpenLayers and other map providers, detail/summary Reporting, and various GPS tracking devices.

A web based Metadata Catalog Server for data description and discovery. Supports both generic and geospatial data discovery. It implements international standards (e.g. ISO19115/19139/19119, ISO19115-3, DCAT-AP, CSW 2.0, OGC API Records). It originates from the United Nations and is used by many governments as geoportal software. Active development and discussion takes place on GitHub and OSGeo Discourse. The Wildfire Management Tool (WMT) predicts the potential fire behavior of a wildland fire. WMT incorporates a 3D terrain viewer, the tenets of the Campbell Prediction System (CPS) and the Rothermel fire spread equations to depict fire behavior. Preparation of GPS routes and analysis of GPS logs in the context of outdoor sports (biking, skiing, trecking, gliding, geocaching, mountaineering). Our hope is to have a multi platform, multi GPS file and map format software.

Karto allows to calibrate a scanned map (or aerial photos) with some known geo-points (Lambert, UTM, ...). After that, you can add any points (GPS points) in the map to build your own map. You can also add a transparent GIF image in the map after calibration (cave, mines, roads, ...). You can realize your own cartes with the data you add inside adding/showing/hiding layers of data. You can import/export your data files (after checking and correcting them) in differents formats.

HidroSIG is a GIS that supports raster and vectorial maps with modules oriented to the hydrological analysis, time series, remote sensing and more. It has been made 100% in java using VisAD for data visualization and using MySQL to storage all data.

KGIS it is a GIS aplication for KDE. (Geografic Information System) With a GIS aplication, it is possible to manipulate maps. The objective of KGIS is be the base for the development of GIS applications in KDE.

GeoAr intends to be a rich client for WMS and WFS services. It's developed on LZX (OpenLaszlo), so it would serve dhtml(near future) and flash to the user's browser giving the chance of select between them, but having only one server's cource code.
