iTerm2 is a modern, feature-rich terminal emulator for macOS. It extends and improves on the built-in Terminal app by offering advanced features like split panes, profiles, search, autocomplete, instant replay of terminal history, and much more. The repository contains the full source code (primarily in Objective-C / Swift) along with UI components, extensions, and support tools. It is released under the GPL-2.0 license. The project is quite mature (with many commits and contributors) and supports scripting and automation via an API (including a Python library in the api/library/python/iterm2 path). To build it, you can compile the Xcode project included, and there is documentation and instructions linked from the project’s README (note: issue tracking is handled via GitLab, as the repository refers issues there). The code is organized into modular parts (resources, UI, helpers, submodules), and the project is actively maintained with many releases and tags.

terminal-notifier is a command-line tool to send macOS User Notifications, which are available on macOS 10.10 and higher. alerter features were merged in terminal-notifier 1.7. This led to some issues and even more issues in the 1.8 release. From now on terminal-notifier won't have the sticky notification feature nor the actions buttons. If you need them please use alerter. Sticking to two smaller specialized tools will hopefully make them easier to maintain and less error prone. It is currently packaged as an application bundle, because NSUserNotification does not work from a ‘Foundation tool’. radar://11956694. If you intend to package terminal-notifier with your app to distribute it on the Mac App Store, please use 1.5.2; version 1.6.0+ uses a private method override, which is not allowed in the App Store Guidelines.

tsMacClient is a front end for rdesktop and vnc written in Cocoa/ObjC for Mac OS X. This project is no longer being actively maintained. Checkout CoRD http://sourceforge.net/projects/cord/ as an alternative.
