the interface may be in german, but that has to be the only negative about it.
One button to select file, one button to start the process. Simple and effective.
Uses native libary from the player to read the file, then a patched version of ffmpeg to convert it to an mp3 with the same bitrate as the source. Practically lossless.

Makes only 1 KB file. Instructions are in english as bad as in german. Incredeble stupid instructions; how does one program (e.g. AudibleManger) know about the other? The aax2mp3 always behaves incorrectly, whether with or without AudibleManger ...

You have to "unlock" the AAX first with the official Audible Software. Without entering your account name and password the AAX File seems to be locked.

Program works great. Would love the ability to see source or add parameter help for AaxToMp3.exe so I can run the conversions in batch. Update: Found out how to use it in a command line. AaxToMp3.exe -i <aax filename> | ffmpeg.exe -i pipe:0 <mp3 filename> I added -ac 1 after the pipe:0 command in ffmpeg so I could convert the stereo aax files to mono mp3 files.

On my 32-BitSystem the tool doesn't work, but on my 64-Bit System it works great. Very easy and fast. Aaxman did a good Job;-)

My star rating is just a placeholder. I will come back and revise my rating. if this works, as some have said, I will give it 5 stars. However, so far I cannot get it to work. I followed these steps on Windows XP: Copied mscvp100.dll and mscvr100.dll from Mozilla Firefox folder and placed them in the aaxtomp3 dir. Open cmd.exe and navigate to your aaxtomp3 dir. Run "AaxToMp3.exe -i C:\full\path\to\file.aax > outputfile.mp3" I tried it several times with several different AAX files. The only output is these 44 bytes: RIFFNULNULNULNULWAVEfmt DLENULNULNULSOHNULSTXNUL"VNULNUL"XSOHNULEOTNULDLENULdataNULNULNULNUL Another option is the Burning Thumb software for the Mac. But I think this one sounds better if I can get it to work.

Thank you very much for this great software, Finally a possibility to lsiten to my free audible book. It wouldn't start under my XP VM, but I got it running by catching the parameters, downloading some ddls and running it via cmd. It would be great to have mp3s for each chapter, and of course I would love to see the sourcecode on Sourceforge. Steps for XP: Download mscvp100.dll and mscvr100.dll from free websites, place them in the aaxtomp3 dir. open cmd.exe and navigate to your aaxtomp3 dir. Run "AaxToMp3.exe -i C:\full\path\to\file.aax > outputfile.mp3"

Works good! Could you make an option to cut out the first and last 3 seconds? Also you should change the Icon - for copyright reasons. // Gibt es eine Möglichkeit die ersten und letzten 3 Sekunden raus zu schneiden? Denn dort kommt immer der Willkommen bei Audible kram. Ausserdem solltest du das Icon austauschen - könnte Copyright ärger geben.
