the interface may be in german, but that has to be the only negative about it.
One button to select file, one button to start the process. Simple and effective.
Uses native libary from the player to read the file, then a patched version of ffmpeg to convert it to an mp3 with the same bitrate as the source. Practically lossless.

Makes only 1 KB file. Instructions are in english as bad as in german. Incredeble stupid instructions; how does one program (e.g. AudibleManger) know about the other? The aax2mp3 always behaves incorrectly, whether with or without AudibleManger ...

Cannot install, always asks for a MSVP100.dll, and the other .exe is in Dutch.
-
Simply works, as long as I install the Audible Manager and log in. :-)

Excellent work!

Best converter I've found for Audible books
-
Excellent! Works fast and comfortable.

I am absolutely pleased with this app. Used it on .aax files successfully to convert .aax files to .mp3. Spent HOURS looking for something to convert .aa files to .mp3. I decided to try to just add an x to the .aax, and holy s***, it worked. The only caveat is that it was at Bitrate: 32 - 1/2 of a true .aax file. I can live with that!
-
Excellent. Very fast. Only complaint is that it generates variable bitrate files, and no obvious way to change to CBR.

I do have an Audible AAX audio book which cannot be converted. Tool says "complete" after some seconds. Mp3 has 3 kB.
-
Easy and it works.

Thank you so much you fantastic wonderful AxxMan! You just open the .axx (Enhanced format) from the audible download's directory and it converts it (to that same directory) into a MPEG-2 layer 3 64 kbps, 22050 Hz Joint Stereo file. (I suppose "Open" is Durchsuchen and "Umwandeln) is convert or encode.) I wish you could change it to 44.1hz, but I'm not complaining!

Nice tool

This works. There's no expense. If you have an Audible login, it uses your legal Audible Manager software to rip AAX and AA protected files to MP3 or M4A. You don't need CDs, ITunes, Nero, Tunebite, SoundTaxi, or any other software to create MP3s. It does not play in real time, it rips nearly like a CD rip. I am running on Win 10 Pro and ripping 3 sessions simultaneously to fully use my CPU. I multiple-select many files (so they run in batches and I can leave the computer working for hours). This results in dozens of books ripped in a few hours. I don't need the command line and FOR code to do batches anymore. Each MP3 has the book cover image in it. My MP3 books now have chapters again! Read the TICKETS, especially ticket 16 which has the improved version attached to it. Reading the other tickets will help you with the problems you will have, just work through them. see URL sourceforge.net/p/aaxtomp3/tickets/16/ Some of the resulting MP3s have bad length indicated and we cannot jump near the end of the file. I may use something like VBRFIX see URL home.gna.org/vbrfix/ I took the default tagging and plan to fix the mess using MP3TAG when all files are ripped. I have not figured where the Audible book summaries go, unfortunately they are lost even though they are available prior to the rip. Wy Win 7 32bit system does not like the supplied 64bit FFMPEG, others here tell you how to solve that for 32bit.

This works for me. However, I would have been saved time and grief if I had had documentation for format and options of the command line version.

I installed this program on Windows 7 and it works like a charm! German was not really a problem. Nothing that Google Translator can't solve. Thanks.

You have to make sure the files play from your audible manager first. If they play then this software will create you an mp3 file.

This project does exactly what it says it does. Just make sure that you're actually signed into your Audible account in AudibleManager before you try decoding your AAX file, otherwise you just end up getting a 1-2KB file. A warning alerting the user that they're not signed in would be nice, but it's not a big deal.

Works great on Windows 7. I've been looking for something like this for a long time. The GUI is in German but there are only two buttons - pretty easy to figure out. The book I converted as a test came out at 63kbps and sounds very nice.
-
Works great on Windows 10. Thanks for making MP3 an option for AAX :)
-
Works exactly as promised. Fast, reliable with excellent quality. UI have a *few* areas of improvements, especially sine I only seem to get German, but honestly with 2 buttons even I cannot fail. Highly recommended!

Works fine. But tell dump users like me that I must start playing in Audible Manager before I can convert. :P
-
Great and simple to use, but for the Converter to work, I first had to download and install the AudibleMediaPlayerFilter. (Windows 7, 64 bit Operating System)
-
works just fine for me. @reinb: check out ticket 4, there's a commandline version which alloes batch processing and also supports seperate files for each chapter. if it doesn't work for you: make sure you actually play one of your downloaded files usnig audible download manager to make sure you're correctly authenticated.

EN - Over the years I have tried many things to convert from Audible files to unprotected files (iTunes, Virtual CD, etc.). Now Sonos has declared that they don't support Audible for a while, as they have "forgotten" to check with Amazon the new streaming solution ;)!!!! But this tool works perfectly for me under Win7 (64-bit) and Win10 (64-bit). The only thing I miss is a batch conversion, so I can run it over night.

Those who are downloading *.AA files - change the quality from Low or Format 2,3 or 4 to High or Enhanced quality to get the *.AAX files. In the Audible web login page the option is above the books before you Download them. Those getting 1kb files - when you download the files you need to actually open them (at least briefly) in the Audible Manager (whether version 6 or Audible Manager for Windows 10 or whatever you have) to unlock the DRM on the file before converting.

I can't believe it's even here. First its GUI app didn't start because I was missing the .NET framework. Then the non-GUI AaxToMp3.exe failed to start, showing msvcp100.dll missing. After installing .NET framework, I was able to start the GUI app, which literally has two buttons. Both in German. I clicked one, and it supposedly wanted me to pick an AAX file. I did. After which it crashed :) Tried with another AAX file -- crashed again :) OK. So for all I know it could've been saying, "Shpeaking the Deutch. Do ya vant us to putten a virus on your computer?" So I don't know how it converts anything because it hasn't even started for me. PS. I ran it on a standard Windows 7 machine. Luckily in a VM, so I can revert whatever this "software" did while running. Conclusion: AVOID!
