    Essential! Direct record guitars, vocals, keys or import audio for editing, this is one of those things that you will use ALL the time!

    Excellent! The "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" plugin is also way better than Amazing Slowdowner for slowing down music for practice.

    Very handy audio editor. I've never used a better freeware audio editor, and it's about on the level of the very nice shareware Goldwave.

    I've heard many recommendations of this software but for me it simply crashes. Looks like an unstable alpha version.

    It's the only recorder I'll ever use. I've tried trial versions of other software, but Audacity has always come up tops.

    We have used Audacity in both Linux and Windows for many years to edit and clean up speech and music files. Versions 1.2.x do a superb job of removing noise. Unfortunately the noise removal algorithms have changed in versions 1.3.x and we have not succeeded to get it to work as well as it used to. We have also experienced problems with the program refusing to save changes, so we dropped back to 1.2.4. Grab it while you can.

    This is a great piece of software. Useful for absolutely anything you could ever want to do to your sound files. Good documentation, good interface, amazing program.
