  • I discovered your project while looking for something else - boy am I glad I found this! Great work! Most everything I need to get myself out of trouble is easily found. I break stuff frequently and this is a perfect first-aid kit! Thanks for your time and effort. Terry

Thank you very much, I'm trying to improve it as much as possible, don't hesitate to suggest features or report bugs :)
  • Excellent project. Very good ideas. But I can't find the project license. Do I have permission to use it for my work ? Can I modify it, redistribute it ? I look forward to the next version !

Thank you very much :) Well, the "licence" is kind of "do what you want with it" ^^ Maybe the only 'restrictions' (if any) are those of the softwares included. Don't hesitate to report bugs or suggest features :)
  • Hello Seb, Excellent work. I am actually writing my review using your 'Live' Distro. :) So many delightful things on your system. You have clearly put a lot of effort into your work. I have just one request. -------- An Installer. ---- I would like to install q4rescue directly onto my HDD /SSD so I can boot my PC from it --- as well as to be run 'Live'. I think would offer great benefits to someone who runs a dual-boot or triple boot system. Also - I hope you never include LibreOffice as part of the live or installable system. It installs hundreds of useless fonts into the system that take forever to get rid of. I personally use Abiword which you have included -- it does most of my work because it is light weight. Thank you

Thank you for your kind comment; it really motivates me to know that this project is useful to others. It’s still a "work in progress," which I’m trying to improve as much as possible. An installer to set up the system on an HDD is a great idea. I’m currently exploring different options. Thank you again for the suggestion! As for LibreOffice, I have not included it, and I will never include it in q4rescue, for all the reasons you mentioned. For a rescue system, AbiWord is sufficient, and it is entirely possible to install LibreOffice or another office suite with Synaptic or the 'q4os app center' if the user wishes. But I want to keep the base system minimal, with just what’s necessary, mainly for performance reasons and ISO image size.
