  • Lightweight, Effective, and Surprisingly Capable I’ve been using ViaVoip as a lightweight voice communication tool over LAN, and it’s been a helpful addition to my local setup. It does what it promises — lets you talk between devices without needing an internet connection or external servers. For that alone, it’s worth checking out if you’re after a simple, no-frills solution. The interface is minimal, and once you figure out the basics, it works reliably. I’ve used it for casual communication between a few machines on my network, and it’s held up well. Overall, it’s not life-changing, but it’s a solid little utility that fills a niche — and of course all users should appreciate that it’s free and open-source.
