A tool that doesn't get enough love is the KDE "ISO Image Writer".
Sure there's dd and there's tools like Rufus, Etcher, and whatnot, but if it's effectively a tool meant for your platform then why not?

Deus me livre.

desktop-installer is not the new desktop installer.
It's a port that was added more than sixteen years ago:
So for a long while now I've thought I had an issue with my FreeBSD Desktop + Wayland + KVM Switch, which was that my keyboard and mouse seemed to lock up, when switching inputs away and back to FreeBSD. It didn't reproduce under FreeBSD + XOrg.
I really thought this was a USB hotplugging issue, and it had me a little stumped. BUT I really dug into it today, and discovered my inputs were FINE but my VIDEO was freezing.
IT is in fact some sort of #FreeBSD + Wayland + HDMI Hotplugging issue. Switching out HDMI for Displayport fixed things. So im now using #KDE w/ Wayland on FreeBSD 15.0.

KDE makes steady progress on Union, its unified theme engine
If you're following KDE Plasma development, you've most likely run into something called Union, a project KDE is working on to unify their various ways of theming their applications. The problem KDE is facing right now is that after so many decades of development and changes in how people want to develop applications, th

I think once I get caught up on my work and get some free time, I want to check out KaOS. I appreciate the project being true to their values. It is respectable to distance themselves from Systemd and KDE, which is not an easy task.
You can add a menu bar to KDE title bars with this tool, for some reason
Only a few days ago we talked about the concept of client-side decorations, and how more and more desktop environments and operating systems - specifically GNOME and macOS - are putting more and more buttons, menus, and other widgets inside title bars. How about we take this concept a step further

My son bought a second-hand Windows 11 PC for games, and has been having BSOD issues with the graphics card since he got it. Out of desperation he tried installing Bazzite on it, which I encouraged, but was also trying not to get his hopes up, telling him that the some things might not work. But he reports that "absolutely everything works better than Windows".
I suggested he use KDE for the desktop, and he is blown away about how good everything looks, and how easy the user experience is. He has used Linux for a bit probably 7 or 8 years ago when he used a salvaged laptop at uni that had Ubuntu on it, and he remembers that being a bit janky and frustrating, but now he's decided that he'll wipe the Windows partition and stay with Linux.
So keep it up, clever people that are making Linux distros and software, you're winning.
