Common questions
How do I get started?
Clone spantail/spantail and deploy to your own Cloudflare account — the setup guide takes you from zero to a running instance in minutes.
Does it run on Cloudflare's free plan?
Yes. Spantail is lightweight enough to start on Cloudflare's free tier. Depending on your usage and the features you enable, the paid plan may be needed.
Can I use it as an individual?
Of course. Spantail works fine for a team of one — and it is a great fit for freelancers with multiple clients and projects: log everything in one place and report per project.
Is it really open source?
Spantail is open core: the core is MIT-licensed and self-hostable. Enterprise features (SSO, audit, analytics, DLP) are a paid add-on.
Where does my data live?
In your Cloudflare D1 database. One deployment serves one company — it's not a multi-tenant SaaS.
Does it send my code or conversations?
No. The reference Claude Code hook sends only compact token/timing telemetry — conversation bodies stay on your machine.
