In a post, I’m prompted to upload the media in question and then to select and paste it. However, in comments, I don’t get prompted. It only pastes . I don’t know how I am supposed to know the link and hash to a piece of media that I haven’t been prompted for to upload yet. 🥺

I’m creating posts on piefed, and then l need to upload images in the comments. The feature was working fine two days ago, but images have stopped uploading all of a sudden. I’m taking the link of my post to my mastodon account, opening them there and uploading the images successfully.

I like having piefed pull in peertube channels.

Most of us probably (?) came to the fediverse to escape the claws of big tech. Endless scrolling feeds are their way to trap you in their platforms to waste more time there (more data, more ad revenue). Those incentives are not applicable here. Currently the feed has 75 posts per page, which while not infinite achieves close to the safe effect. Personally that leads to excessive time spent.

I recently made a video post using a link that I got from xcancel on a Twitter post. I can see the video when viewing from Lemmy, but when using PieFed, Voyager, and Blorp the video does not load.

After reading about other instances using LLM assisted moderation to analyze users. I thought about how they could easily be used on a user’s voting history as well.

Since a day ago the first time I open piefed.social the website appears as if I’m logged out, but just clicking “log in” without going through the actual login process it fixes itself. Is it just me?

I wrote out a very long and detailed reply to someone, citing sources and putting quite some time into crafting my message, only to be presented with a message “replier blocked” in red font. Or if I attempt via a direct URL to the comment, I get a different presentation of the similar message saying “Your reply was not accepted because Replier blocked”, in black text against a pink background (in my dark mode view with PieFed theme, using Firefox on Android).

When I create a new url post, the web app has started listing all previous posts with the same url. In principle this is a good idea, except for on the daily games community. Most urls on that community get reposted daily, so there are always long lists of posts with the same url.

I noticed !europe@lemmy.dbzer0.com missing from my subscriptions and then piefed.social entirely. I figured I’d try adding it via remote community add but am met with “That community is banned from PieFed.” message. What’s going on?

Sometimes community mods set their community-specific themes to something that is entirely unreadable - like dark text on top of a black background for a spoiler box, itself on top of a light-colored background (where the dark text would have been readable, except the spoiler box changing everything). I am having to turn off community theme overrides entirely as a result if I want to read the content.

Is there a reason the topic for chill posts is named “Chilling” as opposed to “Chill”? It sounds like True Crime or something.

In Admin->Moderation (/admin/reports) I see a bunch of reports. I open one and I see that the object of report has been already deleted. I think in such case the report should be taken down from the list or grayed out - the latter idea so admin team don’t loose history Or maybe the list should be split in two, like registration does?

I assume I’m blind, but I moved over from mbin where I could just go to a magazine (community) and click a block button. My browsing strategy is to browse all and not use subscriptions to mostly not limit what I see. However, I don’t want to see certain types of porn (for instance).

I am experiencing a strange situation where when I try to log into piefed.social, I get a notification that says “You have been banned.”. I initially took this at face value, and assumed I had somehow broken a rule, but upon trying to see why I was banned, I could not find any evidence that I had actually been banned, besides my login credentials producing that message.

Hi, I’ve published all the custom CSS that I use on my PieFed instance. It’s inspired by the Mint color palette from Voyager. It’s almost a theme, but for now I’ll keep it all in custom CSS to keep things simple.

There has been this thing where a user seems to be able to make special posts that don’t follow my feed format including bluring nsfw when my setting says not to but also making them pop out over the rest. I very much am big on user control of their experience. Is this something that actually happens. Can it be blocked or overwritten or something? Only thing I can think to do is block users who do whatever causes it.

On the Connect app, there’s an option that users can enable to make user notes global. This applies a user tag to all accounts with the same username across instances. Any accounts that get a copy of the tag has an added * to denote that it wasn’t originally tagged; as a reminder since some people may simply have the same username on different instances.

Hi. I’ve set up a new single-user instance for myself today and I’m trying to create a local community.

I find posts and comments from Mastodon to be almost unreadable because they are loaded with hashtags in-line with the content.

With Hetzner’s price rises taking effect, I’m moving piefed.social to somewhere else. Most likely it’ll be during a quiet time when few people will notice, around 00:00 to 3:00 UTC on Saturday.

I have heard people talk about tagging people instead of blocking them and I did not think much about it. I had a person with a one month history though who had some comments that had me evaluating them for a block. Their history is just to small atm. So I thought. Hey this would be great for some sort of tag like under review or probation or something so I can remember to evaluate down the line. I looked around but did not see anything. I think its very possible people are talking about something that is specific to an app or maybe lemmy has it. On the other hand maybe I am just missing how to do it. So this is a question or an ask depending.

I like posts to be properly tagged, but sometimes I don’t have the time. An idea would be to have an auto-assigned role so that 20% of users who spend the most time in a community gain the ability to curate post tags, improving discovery of old posts.

When attempting to create a community with the URL c/MindfulMaverick, I encounter the error message: “[This name is in use already.]” However, no community by that name currently exists. It’s possible the system is incorrectly flagging a conflict with my username rather than an existing community. In fact, browsing https://piefed.zip/c/mindfulmaverick redirects me to https://piefed.zip/community/add_local, suggesting the name is not actually taken.

I’m having trouble seeing functional differences at least in my limited ways of using the platform, between blorp & interstellar. Blorp probably fits my screen a little better. How have you decided on a default between these and/or others and what am I missing? Thanks.

If you go into a community there won’t be a ‘home’ css class so you’ll see image and video posts in there.

So currently, we have two different closed-off developer chats on Zulip and Matrix. This means, that new devs will be confused about which channel to join and experienced devs have to actively look around in both channels for questions to answer. This seems like a really inefficient system, so we should at least decide on one official communication channel.
