Welcome to SN do you run an LN node?

reply

Not sure what you mean by LN node, I'm still pretty new to all this stuff. Do you mean a Lightning wallet...or what do you mean by "node"? Sorry, I'm still learning.

reply

A Lightning node is a bitcoin full node that runs the lightning network protocol which allows the owner to send bitcoin almost instantly between two people.

This site is a lightning network application where users have to pay to post and can earn real bitcoin.

Got it, just did some reading about it. Not running a node, but may be interesting to try out. I have raspberry pi sitting around collecting dust, maybe I could set that up as a node. It sounds like the benefits are supporting the network with a little bit of profit on the side.

reply

ehhh pi nodes kinda suck lol. I ran a few raspberry pi nodes and they always had stability issues

Why does your name look like it's a randomly generated block hash from your miner?

reply

Updated and no longer a block hash, now it's an old nickname.

reply

It was auto-generated when I signed up. I guess I can change it.

Howdy! I'd love to hear more about your solar-powered sat stacking!

I use a Bitaxe Gamma connected to a Jackery Explorer 300 that rarely gets used (maybe once or twice a year) and the Jackery is powered/recharged by a 100w solar panel. It mines Bitcoin through Braiins Pool with Lightning payouts to my Speed Wallet. It is slow, but doesn't cost anything to power. The Bitaxe uses about 21-25w with rest of the wattage charging the Jackey. It'll run overnight and start charging in the morning on a full sunny day.
