Celebrate Stockholm Pride with KI on 1 August

Join KI in the Pride Parade to celebrate equality. All staff, students and alumni are welcome as part of Academic Pride. The parade sets off on Saturday 1 August at 1 pm from Norr Mälarstrand. Everyone is also welcome to sign up for a pre-parade gathering on Campus Solna.

First allocation of the 2027 research funding completed

An initial allocation of the research grant for 2027 has now been approved by the Vice-Chancellor and the Faculty Board. Under the new model, the allocation will take place as early as June, which provides campus groups and departments with better conditions for planning.

New migration regulations for researchers and doctoral students

The Swedish government is introducing new migration rules for doctoral students and researchers. The regulatory framework is improved in several respects, and will take effect on 11 June 2026.

From 22 June, the shuttle bus will stop at its usual stop in Solna

From 22 June, the commuter bus stop is back at Nobels väg, by Gammelgården as before. Until 18 June, the bus departs from the temporary stop at Karolinska Institutet Västra, Tomtebodavägen/Berzelius väg. The summer timetable will come into effect on 22 June.

Pär Nordlund awarded the Prize for Innovation and Utilisation 2026

Pär Nordlund is an internationally prominent researcher who successfully combines excellence in basic research with tangible societal impact. He is now awarded the 2026 Prize for Innovation and Utilisation.

Karolinska Institutet’s Work Environment Award 2025 has been awarded to the ANA Futura Service Team at the Department of Laboratory Medicine. The award recognises their dedicated efforts to create a safe and well-functioning work environment in a complex research setting.

Strong KI presence in call for excellence clusters for groundbreaking technologies

Karolinska Institutet is the host organisation for nine applications – and KI researchers are involved in several other additional ones – in the Swedish Research Council’s and Vinnova’s call for excellence clusters for groundbreaking technologies. These clusters of excellence will combine research of the highest scientific quality with the best and most extensive innovation capabilities.
