Here For The Presents

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I have a Christmas themed Shaker Card to share with you using products from Hero Arts Best Gift Ever Collection.

Using the stencil in this collection I stencilled 6 different panels in each of the colours used for the presents which you can see in the card above. I have lots of presents left over to make more cards using this collection.

Once I had the stencilled presents, I pulled out my glimmer machine and the Press Plate/Glimmer plate and gold foiled all the bows over the presents, this was pretty easy to line up.

I then used the coordinating die to die cut all the presents, which gave me a number of frames I could stack up to form my shaker well for my card.

I added the shaker elements to the shaker portion of the card and then added another frame to. which I had cover the back with acetate.

To finish the front of the card I used a sentiment from the coordinating Press Plate Sentiment set. I used the negative image for this particular card.

For the inside of the card, I added another sentiment from the Press Plate/Glimmer Sentiment set. I also added a Merry Cristhmas Betterpress image from Spellbinders under the sentiment. Both sentiments are also the negative image.

To finish off the inside, I added one of the extra presents I have in my stash for other cards.

June 2025 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends,

Welcome to our June Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.

Check out Karen Burniston's blog on Wednesday (US Time) when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus Karen will have an amazing video tutorial to share with us all.

Our challenge theme this month is ... "ANIMALS & CHARACTERS" - Use any of our Animal or Character dies (Gnomes and People count) for a card of any theme

My first thought when I started making my card was to create a baby card using the animals from the Safari Animals die set, but as you can see I ending up making a birthday card.

I used the Lorna Label Pop-up die set to create a double pop up. I used the grass from the Nature Edges die set to add grass to the top label of the pop up.

I gave the elephant a candle which is from the Big Birthday Charms die set, The balloons the giraffe is holding is from the Lorna Label Add-ons Happy Birthday die set.

Along the top edge of the card, I added the vines & monkey from the Monkryband Lion die set.

The sentiment on the lower label of the pop up is from the Birthday Belated Clear Stamp set.

To finish off the inside of the card I added two presents which are from the Big Birthday Charms die set.

I have been wanting to create a shaker card for some time, so for this card I created a full front shaker using packaging from a stamp set.

I added the birthday sentiment which is from the Lorna Label Add-ons Happy Birthday die set.

I added another giraffe, elephant and monkey to the front of the card.

Teacher Mini Slimline Shaker

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing a Teacher themed Mini Slimline Shaker Card I created recently. I still need to build up my stock of teacher cards, so I have enough for my grandchildren to give to their teachers at the end of the year. I am slowly getting there.

Trinity stamps recently released some Flat Acetate Shaker Pouches in various card formats. I decided to get a few different options to try out. For my card today I decided to try out the Mini Slimline Shaker Pouches, these pouches fit on a rectangle that measures 2 3/4 inches x 5 3/4 inches. As I wanted to add a layer as well as a border on my Mini Slimline card, I made my card so it was 3 1/4 inches x 6 1/4 inches. The shaker pouches also have a protective backing on them, so make sure you remove that before you attach the shaker to your card ... don't ask me how I know!

To decorate my card I used the book stacks, owl and cat from Clearly Besotted's Rhyme Time stamp set.

Here is a look at the shaker when it has been shaken and laying on my desk, so you can see the shaker portion of the card.

I added the die cut "teacher" which is an older die from Heffy Doodle Stamps. I also added the "#1" using Karen Burniston's Mini Alphabet and Numbers die set.

For the layers of my. card, both inside and out I used Trinity Stamps' Mini Slimline Stitched Layers Stack die set.

For the sentiment I used MFT Stamps' Teach, Sleep, Repeat stamps set for the "Thank You and Teacher" the remainder of the sentiment is from Heffy Doodle Stamps Teach Me Words stamp set.

I also added the apple which is from a Mama Elephant stamp set.

Other Supplies:

Teacher Die - Heffy Doodle Stamps
Sequins - various colours.

All That Jazz

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today I have another "Roaring Twenties" themed card to share with you using stamps and dies from Crafter's Companion and dies from Creative Craft Products.

The base of my card uses one of the new die sets from Creative Craft Products Fancy Folds Collection, this one is the A6 Window Card die set. This card folds down to a card that measures 4 1/4 inches x 6 inches.

To decorate my card I used Crafter's Companion's Showgirl die set. I die cut this image from both gold mirror and black cardstock, offsetting the black behind the gold slightly to create a shadow. I turned this into a shaker card before adding it to the centre of the card.

I used the "All That Jazz" sentiment from Crafter's Companion's All That Jazz stamp set. I die cut the sentiment using the label dies included in the A6 Window Card die set. The label was a little longer than the sentiment, so after die cutting the label once, I then repositioned the label so it was closer to the other side of the words and die cut again.

I added a few gold metallic pearls to the card.

Here you can see the card when it is folded ready to be placed in an envelope.

Here is a look at the back of my card, as I have the 12 x 12 Roaring Twenties Paper Pad, I decided to decorate the panels on the back of the card.

I added a birthday sentiment using the Shine Like The Stars stamp set.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Maryann Einam our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenge.

Today is our final challenge for 2022 and also for all time. After over 15 years the time has come to say goodbye to CCEE Stampers. Over the years we have had some amazing card makers participate in the weekly challenges. It is a little sad to say goodbye to this one as for me I was one of the foundation members who started this challenge with a group of 8 people over on Splitcoast Stampers. Thank you to all of you who have supported us over the years.

Maryann tells us that it is countdown time until the end of the year, make a card using a clock, stopwatch or just numbers to end the year.

As I am trying to focus on mostly Christmas cards for the month of December, I knew I wanted my card to be a Christmas theme. I did think about using a clock in someway, but when I started thinking about the challenge I remembered the Hourglass Cards I made last year using the Hourglass die set from The Greetery. The Hourglass is a form of telling time which goes back to the 14th century.

I used the Hourglass Frame dies and insert dies along with the two coordinating die sets Christmas Time in the City and Christmas Time in the Country to create the scene at the bottom of the hourglass.

I found the sentiment in my Christmas stash, which was a free thank you gift from The Greetery, which worked perfectly for this challenge.

To finish my night time scene, I added Santa in his sleigh to the sky. This stamp is from Lawn Fawn's Winter Skies stamp set.

As you can see, I created a shaker card by die cutting the hourglass insert 5 times to create the well for the shaker elements. I was careful not to put too much inside the shaker part as I didn't want the image covered up at all.

For the inside of my card, I added a sentiment using one of the sentiments included in the Honey Bee Stamps St Nick stamp set. I also added the tiny Santa image, using Mama Elephant's Little Santa Agenda stamp set.

I added the Hourglass stand to the inside of my card this time around for a different look.

Don't forget to check out the CCEE Stampers blog (goes live 12 AM EST) to see the rest of the creations the CCEE Stampers created this week. You can also see more details of their creations on their individual blogs:

Christmas Wishes Shaker

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a super cute Christmas themed 5 x 7 Shaker card to share with you today.

I haven't been sharing cards much this year on weekends, but I have so much I still want to share with every before Christmas that I will probably post a little more often between now and Christmas. It may not be every weekend, but there will be a few times I will for sure.

For my card today I used products from the Papercraft Society's November Box which was designed by Daisy Mae. I just love the cute little polar bear images, and even though Christmas is in summer down here, I can't resist using these images to create a few Christmas cards.

Part of the kit, includes papers and coloured images to download so even though there are a few papers in the kit as well as a stamp set, I downloaded the images. The advantage of downloading the images is, that they are already coloured and I can adjust the size to whatever I want. I did make the image for the front of my card larger so it was be the focus of my card.

To create the shaker card, I used the full front shaker card technique, using some stamp packaging for the shaker cover. I added white sequins inside the shaker which were also included in the Papercraft Society kit.

To finish off the front of the card, I added some red snowflakes using dies from the kit.

For the sentiment I used stamps from Crafter's Companion's Crafter's Inspiration Magazine Issue 5.

For the inside of the card, I used the same image I used on the front of the card, but this time at the original size. I used the coordinating dies to die cut the image.

I used the Oh So Merry Sentiment from Mama Elephant's The Penguin's Waddle set to the main part of the sentiment. I then used the Crafter's Companion stamp set again to add the rest of the sentiment. I had to piece the "We Wish You An" part of the sentiment using parts of two sentiments in the set.

Get Whale Soon

Hi Crafty Friends,

I am sharing a Get Well themed Mini Slimline Shaker card that I created recently. I actually went whale watching on Wednesday with a group of friends. The water was a bit rough but we managed to see a mama whale with her calf and boyfriend.

For my card today I used Trinity Stamps Whale Done stamp set and also the Shimmering Sea Hot Foil Stamp. I hot foiled the Shimmering Sea Hot Foil Plat onto blue cardstock using Cobalt Blue Hot Foil and then blended blue Distress Oxide inks around the edge.

To create the frame for my card, I used Pinkfresh Studio's Mini Slimline Frame die set, die cutting the frame from both white and blue cardstock and layering them together to create the area for my shaker. I added two shades of blue sequins to the centre of my shaker card.

I added the whale and sentiment to the outside of the acetate.

For the inside of my card, I added one of the inner panels left over from die cutting the frame. I stamped another whale themed sentiment from the Whale Done stamp set as well as the water that spouts from the whale.

Snowman Puppet Shaker Easel Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Being a brand new month, it's time to introduce our new challenge hostess which is Kelly Santi.

Apparently today is International Toy Testing Day ~ show us your cards with a toy/toys on them! Think Christmas cards and Santa’s workshop, too!

Here is a quick video to see my card in action.

When I was thinking of what I could make for this weeks challenge, I remembered that I had just ordered Made To Surprise by Sam Calcott's It's Only A Puppet dies. Puppets are toys, so I figured that would work ok ... as I wanted it to be a winter/Christmas theme I decided to use the snowman puppet. I was able to get the complete collection of dies, but was able to get hold of two of the puppet die sets and the mechanism set, hopefully the remainder of the set will be available sometime in the future so I can get hold of those too..

As you can see I used the dies to create an Easel Card, which is also a shaker card. The shaker part was a little tricky as there are openings at the top, but I was able to fix it so that the sequins inside wouldn't escape. I think I have a better idea on how to do that part on the next one I make it I decide to make another shaker card.

I used Snowfall Acetate to cover the opening of the large snow angel shape, which also helps gives the illusion of it snowing.

The sentiments are all from Karen Burniston's Word Set 13 - Snow die set. I die cut each of the words from white glitter cardstock and then holographic cardstock offsetting the glitter layer slightly over the holographic layer. For the "Brrr!" I added the shadow layer which I die cut from blue cardstock.

The card will fold flat to be placed in an envelope. My completed card is 6 inches square, it does however have the "bump" at the top for the pull tab ... so that would make it 6 1/2 inches in height.

Mini Slimline Petals Background

Hi Craft Friends,

Welcome to my blog. Today I am sharing two Mini Slimline cards that uses some of the new dies from the Divinity Designs August release. Both cards use the new Mini Slimline Petals Background die set.

For my first card, I die cut the Mini Slimline Petals Background die from white cardstock and three more times from pink, purple and green cardstock.

I adhered the white Mini Slimline Petals Background outline onto a rectangle panel which I covered with Double Sided Adhesive Tape.  I then paper pieced the various color pieces from the three coloured die cut pieces into the white outline. This was then adhered onto a top folding Mini Slimline card using the Mini Slimline Card Base.

I added silver pearls to the centres of all the purple flowers.

To finish off the card I added the "Get Well Soon" sentiment which is from the All Occasion Foiling/Die Duo set, hot foiling the sentiment with black foil.

For my second card, I used the pink Mimi Slimline Petals Background which was leftover from creating my first card. I adhered the background onto a panel of clear acetate. I then die cut the Mini Slimline Thin Pierced Frame die to die cut a matching pink frame which I adhered to the background panel.

I added foam strips the outline of background and added sequins into the middle of the panel. This was then covered using a rectangle panel which was die cut using one of the papers from the Sweet Hearts Paper Pad.

I added the completed shaker background to the front of a pink Mini Slimline card using the Mini Slimline Card Base die.

To finish off my card I added two gold pearls to the two outer flowers in the centre of the card. I also added the "Thinking of You" sentiment which is also from the All Occasion Foiling/Die Duo set. I foiled the sentiment using gold foil.

Paper Hugs and Cocktails

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a fun Slimline Shaker Card to share with you today.

Earlier in the year, Picket Fence Studios offered a special kit which had a shaker/alcohol theme and was very good value. I enjoy making shaker cards and also alcohol themed cards for family and friends, so I ordered the kit. It has been sitting on my desk since it arrived and I finally got around to pulling out a could of products from the kit to make a card.

As you can see I created a Slimline card which measures 3 3/4 inches x 8 3/4 inches. I wanted the extra height to allow for the pineapple cocktail I was using. As soon as I saw the Tropical Pineapple Shaker die, I could envision it being on the sand at a beach.

To create the background for my card I started with a light blue card panel, I used the Pinkfresh Studio Slimline Cloud Builder and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink to create the clouds on the top portion of the card.

The waves come from Honey Bee Stamps Makin' Waves Long Border die set. I used one of the dies included in the set to die cut two blue strips of cardstock. I then added white pigment ink along the top of the waves and adhered the about half way up the card.

I then used Honey Bee Stamps Horizon Slimline die set to die cut the two sand panels. I could the sand using Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide inks before adding those to my card.

I die cut the pineapple cocktail from white cardstock and then used inks from Catherine Pooler to colour the die cut so it looked like a pineapple, the colours used are listed in the supply list below. I turned the pineapple into the shaker element adding tiny pineapple slices; green and clear shaker elements, all of which were included in the kit.

When I was looking for a shell or crab or whatever to include on the right side of the card, I saw an already die cut fishing net from a Made To Surprise die set, when I placed it over the pineapple I liked it so I decided to use that for my card too. The net, seaweed (behind the pineapple), shells and starfish are all included in the Made To Surprise Treasure Trove die set.

To finish off the card, I added the sentiment which is from Picket Fence Studios' Sending Paper Hugs Your Way stamp set which was also included in the kit.

For the inside of the card, I added more waves and sand along the bottom of the card. I added some seaweed to the left hand side of the card as well as some pineapple pieces, umbrella and straw.

For the sentiment I used a sentiment from an older MFT Stamps stamp set.
