ConQUACKulations

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. Kelly Santi our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Yesterday was Donald Duck Day, my husband’s favorite Disney character :)Please feature a duck(s) on your card/project

For my card today I pulled out an older stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs ...Darby. I created a Half Shutter Card using Divinity Designs Half Shutter Card with Layers die set.

As I wanted to use "duck" themed sentiments for this card, I computer generated all the sentiments.

Here is a look at my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Dog Sympathy Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

Friends of ours had to farewell their fur baby a few weeks ago, so I created a sympathy card to send to them.

For my card I created a Slimline Shaped Card using Whimsy Stamps Slimline Dog Bone die set. This die set comes with the bone shaped die to create the slimline card as well as a number of other pet themed elements including the collar and pet food dish that I used on this card. I did cut the the bone from white cardstock and then sponged around the edge with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide inks. I also die cut other folded card so the top of the cutting edge of the  bone was just over the fold to create a top folding card. I then adhered the bone shaped panel over the bone shaped folded card.

The dog is an older stamps from my stash designed by Whipper Snapper Designs, I tried to color it so it resembled my friends dog a little.

On the left hand side I added the color which is jewel studded and has the name of the dog on the dog tag.

I added Karen Burniston's With Sympathy to the centre of the card.

For the inside of my card I computer generated the sentiment, which I added to the centre of the card.

I added the dog dish to the left hand side of the sentiment and the heart with the paw print to the right side of the sentiment.

Oops!

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog.  Lynn McAuley our challenge hostess for the month, continues to issue the challenges.

Apparently National Belly Laugh Day is coming up this Sunday! We all need a good laugh these days so create a card that will have us all laughing out loud. Bonus points if you make me spew my coffee on the computer screen when I see your card!!

Early in January, the area we live in went into a 3 day lockdown so the authorities could control the spread by someone who had contracted COVID 19 ... the UK variant. Of course as soon as this was mention, people went crazy and started panic buying again, even though the stores were remaining open for the 3 days. Toilet paper seems to be one of the things people rush for, for some strange reason. So for my card today I decided to pull out this cutie that I have had in my stash for years ... I have a wood mount stamps by Whipper Snapper Designs and it is called Double Trouble on the block, but when I went searching to see if it was still available to purchase I found it on their website with a new name "Sassy Puppy".

As you can see I created a Slimline card using Trinity Stamps Slimline Stitched Card Panels & Windows.  I die cut the rectangle panel twice using the striped paper and the wood grain paper and then trimmed the wood down to create a room effect.

I die cut another slimline panel using the same die, and then die cut the speech bubble which is from Whimsy Stamps Comic Speech Bubbles die set. I also used the Oops! die set from Whimsy Stamps to die cut the sentiment and added it onto the speech bubble.

I layered the panel to black cardstock and then to a top folding white Slimline card base which is 3 1/2 inches x 8 1/2 inches.

For the inside of the card, I created a pop-up card using Karen Burniston's Katherine Label Pop-up die set. I computer generated the sentiment.

For the borders on the top and bottom edges of the card I used Dare 2B Artzy's Curve Border die set.

Here is a side on view of the inside of my card so you can see the pop up portions a little better.

You're Grrreat

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. As challenge hostess for the month, I continue to issue the challenges.

Apparently Tomorrow is World Lion Day .... Lions are also often referred to as the "King of the Jungle" so lets see some jungle animals appearing on our cards this week … bonus points if you include a lion.

For my card today I have created another Trifold card using Our Daily Bread Designs Trifold Card with Layers die set which I purchased recently.

I pulled out an older lion stamp from my stash which I added to the centre panel of the card. The sentiment above the lion is from a Heffy Doodle stamp set.

Along the sides of the card I added some Nuvo Glitter Drops.

I also decided to decorate the back of this card and add a sentiment to the centre panel. This gives somewhere for someone to write a personal greeting before presenting the card.

Here is a look at the card when it is closed ready to be placed in a envelope.

Happy Day

Hi everyone,

It's challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This week our challenge hostess for the month Vicky Gould continues to issue the challenges.

Donald Duck has been around since 1934.  Let’s celebrate Donald by using a duck…real or imaginary, extra points if you use Donald or any other fictional duck on your cards.

As you can see I didn't use a Donald Duck image, so no extra points for me. I may have been able to use one of my electronic cutting machines to create one, but I decided to go with an older stamp I have had in my collection for a number of years instead.

I created a Vertical Stair Step card using the Spellbinders Happy Day die set.

Here is a photo of my card when it is closed ready to be placed in an envelope.

Love Lives Here!

KBLoveLivesHere-wm

Hi everyone,

It’s challenge time with my friends over on the CCEE Stampers challenge blog. This month our challenge hostess is Kathy Bradley.

Kathy has challenged us to use 3 different stamps/digital images, a sentiment cannot be one of the stamps/images.

Well I have used more than 3 stamps to create my card this week. I had forgotten I had these little cuties, until I went looking in a bag I had some Whipper Snapper Designs unmounteds in. I thought they would be perfect to go with the new House Pivot Card designed by Karen Burniston’s for Elizabeth Crafts Designs. This is the newest die in the Pop It Ups collection, only being released last weekend … love love love!

The fence on the front of the card was created using the fence which is on the other part of the pivot on the house die (which you will see on the inside of the card.)

KBLoveLivesHere2-wm

Here is the inside of my card. I added another fence on the left side of my card and also added two more kids. I thought the sentiment worked well with this card.

KBLoveLivesHere3-wm

Here is a close up of the left side of the inside.

KBLoveLivesHere4-wm

And this is a close up of the right side of my card. Don’t you love the little picket fence which is the pivot part on the right side. The sentiment is stamped using the Lucy Label Pop-Up card die.

KBLoveLivesHere5-wm

And let’s not forget the back of the card too … you can see the picket fence peeking through.

    It’s Yarr Birthday!

    Pirate-Ship-wm

    Hi everyone and happy Sunday.

    tlapdbanner2

As you can see by the little banner above, today is Talk Like a Pirate Day! I had such fun creating my pirate card for the CCEE Stampers challenge on Thursday that I decided to create another one. I had forgotten I even had this stamp until I went looking through all my pirate themed stamps … it is good that it has finally seen ink :)

I used two colors of divine twine (red & black) to create the Sailor’s Knot that I attached to the left side of my card. You can find directions on how to tie this knot here.

I will be back later today with another Pirate card to share with you all … the start of the Paper Pretties sneak peeks. See you then!

    Double Trouble!

    sc226-bday-dog-wm

    Hi everyone!

It has been a while since I used this stamp but when I saw today’s sketch challenge over on SCS, I knew I had to use it to make my card. It’s he the cutest!

The designer paper used here is all from the Pets Stack from DCWV. I also used a bone paper clip that I got some time back but hadn’t used as yet … hmmm maybe challenge of using old embellishments etc is rubbing off hehe!

I decided to use a birthday sentiment for this one as I have tons of cards but many don’t say Happy Birthday … sometimes it is nice to have a few that do.

    Recipe:

Stamps: Double Trouble – Whipper Snapper; Sentiment – JustRite Stamps

Paper: White; Black; Taken With Teal – SU; The Pets Stack DP – DCWV

Other: Black Ink; Circle Punches; Scallop Circle Punch; Bone Paper Clip; Foam Tape; Copics

    SC224 Wanted!

    sc224-wanted-wm

Hi everyone … I am back again today (and will be back again a little later too) with another card to share with you today.

It’s Wednesday which means it is sketch challenge time over on SCS … and this week the sketch is super easy!!!!! Just what I needed today! I have had this image sitting in my bits and pieces box since early March when I was playing around trying to decide what to do for a label challenge I hosted with my CCEE Stamper friends back then. Well I ended up going with something entirely different … but today when I saw the sketch I thought it was time to get this out and turn it into a card.

The image was stamped onto label paper using black ink, I then trimmed the image down slightly and then attached it to the black card …. that is pretty easy to do if you roll the protective backing paper of half of one row first … lay that down and continue and until all rows are done. A little tip if you want to play with labels … turn your image down so you only have to line it up as few times as possible. By attaching the side first on my sample above I only had to line it up 4 times … if I started at the top and continued that way I would have to line the labels up 6 times … does that make sense???

I recently purchased the DCWV alphabet stack … which has lots of black, grey and white designer paper in it … the whole book is those colors so I used parts of the stack for my card today.

    Recipe:

    Stamps: Wanted – Whipper Snapper

Paper: White; Black; Basic Grey – SU; Alphabet Stack – DCWV

Other: Black Ink; Labels; Black Brads; Foam Tape

    OCC - Just Clowing Around!

Hello everyone! It is time for another challenge over at Our Creative Corner, this week Kim challenge us all to a limited supply challenge. We could use a mximum of 3 layers on our card, 1 main image, 1 type of embellishment (buttons OR ribbon OR brads) and a sentiment was optional.

Now most of my cards have 3 layers just for the main image LOL so I had to think about this one for a bit!

I used this cute clown image from Whipper Snapper Designs for my card and decided to stick to primary colors as I thought it would make a fun kids card. I decided to use brads as may 1 embellishment .... yes I used lots of them hehe! I did add some paper piercing to the corners of my main image ... I hope that was allowed but I thought it needed something in those two corners so I went with it.

Visit the Our Creative Corner blog to see the creations from the rest of the OCC girls this week.

    "Egg"stra Special!

Hi everyone ... I am back again today with another card to share with you. This time my card is for this week's sketch challenge (SC218) over on SCS.

I just couldn't resist getting a couple of the "Egg" stamps recently from Whipper Snapper stamps ... this one is called "Egg"stra Special.

I used the floral fantasy cuttlebug embossing folder to add texture to the teal base panel.

    Recipe:
Stamps: "Egg"stra Special & Sentiment - Whipper Snapper Designs
Paper: White; Taken With Teal & Chocolate Chip - SU; DP - Kaiser
Other: Black Ink; Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Brown Brads; Brown Grosgrain Ribbon; Foam Tape; Copics

    A Cupcake challenge or 2

Here is another card I just finished making for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges over on SCS. This one combines 3 challenges ... 2 of which are DTGD challenges, 2 are Taylor's Challenges & one is a sewing challenge.

All right, all right .... I know that 2 + 2+1 = 5 but in this case believe me it really does make 3 hehe! Ya see first up Taylor is hosting 2 challenges ... one her weekly TECC which she does on her blog Taylored Expressions, and the other one she is hosting is a DTGD challenge which is a cupcake challenge ..... well of course I combined the two right ... how easy was that ;) .

Well that was the easy part .... Julia's DTGD challenge today was to use stitching on our cards ... real stitching ... not that faux stuff which I would have had no problem with ... but real ... we could using a machine or we could sew by hand. Now I am a STAMPER ... not a SEWER ... I had parents who looked after the sewing and I threw my sewing machine out a year or two back when it decided that it would run whether the pressure foot was pressed or not ... scary. I have tried a couple of small sewing machines without much luck so kind of gave up on that idea.

Well today Julia changed all that ... and if her ears were burning ... that was most probably me cursing her hehe (nicely of course)! My DD who lives at home has a sewing machine so I got that out ... but she is out right now so I had to work out how to wind the bobbin, load the cotton and the bobbin let alone sew!!!!!!!!!! Anyway if you like around the edge of my designer paper I used on this card you can see I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Whether I will do it for another long long time who knows, but I did it .... and that was indeed a challenge for me!

    Recipe:
Stamps: Cupcake Mouse - Whipper Snapper Stamps; Sentiment - Treehouse Stamps
Paper: White; Cool Caribbean, Purely Pomegranate & Pretty In Pink - SU; DP - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Celery Grosgrain Ribbon; Blue Brads; Sewing Machine; Blue Cotton; Foam Tape

    Fetch!

Hi I wasn't much in the mood to stamp today .... but I did anyway ... hope it looks ok! This is for this week's sketch challenge on SCS ... quite an unusual layout.

I found this bone DP while I was out shopping today so decided to use that for my sketch and while looking for a stamp found this cute dog that I purchased in March but hadn't had the opportunity yet to use so it seemed just right for this sketch.

I used a circle cutter to create my circles and then cut them in half ... the red panels I used my distress stripes cuttlebug embossing folder to texturise them.

    Recipe:
    Stamps: Dog - Whipper Snapper
Papers: White; Real Red & Chocolate Chip - SU; DP - Sandy Lion
Other: Black Ink; CM Circle Cutter; Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Foam Tape

    Owl's It Goin'?

Hmmm it seems like I have been stamping lots of owls lately sorry if you don't like owls ... but you all know I do! This card was created for a challenge I do with my CCEE friends on SCS, we had a short break due to the Christmas & New Year holidays but we are all excited to be playing again.

Our challenge this week was to do a technique that my friend Tosh enjoys doing .... that is using kraft card and coloring the image with pastels. I have tons of pastels in this house and hardly ever use them ... so I loved the opportunity to get some of them out and play. The hardest part of this challenge was deciding what image to use .... during the break we had I took the opportunity to update my personal stamping catty and one of the stamps I had to stamp into it was this owl I got some months back but hadn't added to my catty ..... as soon as I saw it I knew it was the stamp for this challenge.

I stamped the owl onto the kraft card using black ink and then colored using my pastels. Everything else about this card I think is pretty much easy to figure out .... I added photo corners to each of the corners of the card and the pieces underneath the owl image are actually an oval shape cut in half.

Recipe: Stamps: Owl - Whipper Snapper; Verse - Hambo Stamps
Paper: Kraft; Chocolate Chip & Always Artichoke - Stampin' Up; DP - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Chocolate Chip SU Ink; Pastels; Photo Corner Punch; Oval Punch; White & Brown Grosgrain Ribbon; Brown Brads; Foam Tape

    Happy Snowman!

This card was created a few weeks ago for My Favorite Things Sketch challenge in the members forums of SCS. However I couldn't post it then as I had to send it to a friend in the US for her birthday and I didn't want her to see it on here first as I know she does come looking here on occasions. ;)

The snowman is stamped on white card, sponging around the edges of the card. I used my square nestabilities to create the scalloped square layer. The DP on the base of the card was cut into quarters and embossed using my snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder before layering it to the blue and then white card.

To finish off the card I used my oval punch and snowflake brads to embellish the top left and bottom right hand corners. And used my word window punch to papertrey word set for the greeting.

    Recipe:
Stamps: Snowman - Whipper Snapper; Words - Papertrey Ink
Paper: Not Quite Navy - Stampin' Up; White; Snow Text DP - DCWV
Other: Black Ink; Not Quite Navy SU Ink; Snowflake Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Square Nestabilities; Word Window Punch; Oval Punch; Snowflake Brads; Foam Tape

    It's a Jungle Out There!

This card is for Beate's weekend sketch challenge, I didn't get much of a chance to make this yesterday when I normally would have made it because my dh and I decided to go out for a while and then in the afternoon I had to prepare for a few friends that were coming over for dinner. I did get my lion stamped, cut out and colored and wouldn't you know it the last marker I picked up and opened to color the purple jewel in the crown left a great big blob! arghhhhhhhhhh! So of course I had to start all over again ... and then I had trouble with my brown marker I wanted to use for the main so it is a little darker than I would have liked ... after all that I ended up putting jewels on the crown anyway ... so I needn't have bothered coloring LOL!

This sketch was perfect to use my nestabilities again .... I just love these .... if you don't have them yet .... you really do need them!

If nothing else this one passes the seal of approval from my DH who passed it as I was setting it up to take a photo and told me he really likes it ... as I wasn't looking for comments from him this means a lot!

    Recipe:
Stamps: Lion - Whipper Snapper; Verse - My Favorite Things
Paper: White; More Mustard, Chocolate Chip & Old Olive - Stampin' Up; Garbardine /Urban Coulture DP - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Circle Nestabilities; Brown & Olive Brads; Photo Corner Punch; Oval Punch; Label Punch; Gems.

    Snow Much Fun!

It is time for another challenge with my fab friends (actually I believe we are Sassy Six now as we have a new member, but I am not sure we have changed all that as yet ;) )

This week our challenge was to include scallops ...... it could be using scallop punches, nestabilities, scissors, punches whatever as long as there were scallops somewhere on the card. Of course I had to use my nestabilities again ;)

I also decided to combine Julee's Poetic Artistry's Mojo#9 sketch challenge that she posted to her blog earlier on in the week.

I used my snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder to add texture to my DP before layering it to my orange card and placing it on my card. I wanted ribbon so I punched holes in the scallop circles so I could thread it through ... it allowed for a little more ribbon to show this way.

    Recipe:

Stamps: Snowman - Whipper Snapper; Verse - Darcies
Paper: White; Orange, olive & Glitter Stack Pack - DCWV; Blue Brocade - SU
Other: Black Ink; Circle Nestabilities; Slot Punch; Orange Grosgrain Ribbon; Snowflake Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Foam Tape

    Double Trouble!

Isn't this image just tooooooo adorable, I have wanted it for soooooooo long and as I could never find it ..... I ended up ordering it and it arrived on Monday! Of course when I saw the sketch challenge today over at SCS I had to use this image .... it worked so well with it.

I started by stamping the image onto white card and cutting it down to size, layering it onto black and blue bayou card. The top corners of all layers were rounded using the ticket corner punch and I also used my paper piercing mat & guide to create the decoration on the top corners.

I stamped the weave background to the base of the folded white card using sky blue ink and then to the top of this card I added my Basic Grey DP and the thin strip of Blue Bayou. I attached my image to my card using foam tape and added the brads to either side of the image. The verse was stamped in black to the lower right hand corner of the card. I then mounted this whole folded card to another piece of single layered blue bayou for a different look .... this was one of the options for this weeks sketch challenge .... so I decided to go with it seeing it was something I wouldn't normally do!

    Recipe:
Stamps: Double Trouble - Whipper Snapper; Weave B/G - Cornish Heritage Farms; Verse Papertrey Ink
Paper: Blue Bayou - SU; White; Black; Snowballs DP from Blitzen Collection - Basic Grey
Other: Black Ink; Sky Blue SU Ink; Paper Piercing Mat & Tool; Ticket Corner Punch; Brads
