Bellflower Bliss

 Bellflower Bliss

supplies used:  Altenew Bellflower Bliss layering die set, embossing folders
This is a wonderful die set, and basically easy to put together, because of Altenew's key hole system.  I did regular colors for these first two cards, but I plan on doing more in different colors.  I got out an old supply ... Ranger stickles, and liquid pearls that I have had in my stash for years.  Even though they have been hanging out in my stash for years ... they are still GOOD!
Thanks for stopping by.  Come back soon.

Perfect pearl flowers

The technique I did on these cards are from an idea at Jennifer McGuire's blog.  It is an easy technique but very dramatic!
Altenew  layering flower stamps work well for this technique, but I'm sure you could do it with any other stamps you have in your stash.

Basic instructions:
1.  stamp the solid layer with VersaMark ink on dark cardstock.  Here I used purple and grey cardstock.
2.  brush stamped image with Ranger Perfect Pearls pigment powders.  buff off any excess powder with a soft tissue.
3.  stamp next layer with VersaMark ink.  this step will remove some of the PP from the first stamping.
4.  stamp the last layer with black ink.

Here are some more cards I created with this technique ... as you can see I couldn't stop making cards.

Try out this technique ... you won't be able to stop, either.
Thanks for stopping by.  come back again soon.

Alcohol lift

stamps used:  Unity stamp co. flower spray, MFP stamp co. (out of business) Happy Anniversary

Used Ranger Alcohol lift ink pad for these two cards.  When you use this ink pad you automatically get two for the price of one.  Maybe I better start from the beginning on how to use this ink pad.
basic instructions:
1.  on yupo paper ( this is the best choice of paper for this technique) do any alcohol background technique.  I squeezed drops of alcohol inks onto the yupo paper and basically let them do their thing.  The inks bloomed and blended all by themselves.
2.  ink up stamp with alcohol lift ink pad and print onto alcohol background.  I hold stamp to the paper for a few seconds just so I'm sure the image has transferred then lift up the stamp.  you can let the card sit for a few minutes while you make second card.
3.  while the ink is still wet on the stamp print it onto a white card.  boom!  second card!
4.  back to first card.  buff the image with a soft cloth or tissue to reveal the "lift" of color from the card.
5.  over stamp saying onto card.
tips:  1.  you can use glossy cardstock instead of yupo paper but I just found that I got better results with yupo paper.
2.  you can search alcohol inks on my blog for lots of ideas.  I've been playing with alcohol inks off and on for years so there are a lot of past posts with more information.

Resist and sponge it

The title says it all -  first did resist technique then sponged on color.
stamps used:  Unity stamp co. smak kit Truest Life

Let's see first I stamped the big butterfly all over a white card with Colorbox black pigment ink then embossed with clear embossing powder.  Next step I sponged on my new Catherine Pooler inks.  They are a juicy dye ink that blend wonderfully together in fact as good as Ranger distress inks , but that is only my opinion.  You will have to try for yourself to see what you think and when you do please leave me a comment to let me know.  The saying was white embossed onto a piece of black cardstock then adhered to stamped card .... then layered onto a black note card.  An old technique but a good one.
thanks for stopping by and please do return soon.

Fun with alcohol inks

 stamps used:  Unity stamps
alcohol inks by Pantone Tria and Ranger

I found some old Pantone Tria alcohol inks in my stash so I decided to have a play with them and Ranger ones, too.  Just showing the basics in this video but did have fun with them.  Instead of using today's fancy tools I used my old handmade blending tool which you can see in the video.
you can see video at the bottom of this post or here on Sue Wisniewski - YouTube  hope you like it and if you do ... please give the thumbs up.

Summer time is here

stamps used:  Stampin' Up
stencil
Just had some playtime using SU seaside shore, a stencil and some crazy colors.  don't have a lot of SU ink pads so went into my stash of Ranger Adirondack ink pads to mix and match some fun colors.  these cards don't have any insides, yet ..... till I know what they will be used for ... can be birthday ... just for you ... or just plain inside and write my own note.  did some random stamping on the top card that is a dark blue and mustard color.  for the bottom card I did a mini square stencil first ... stamped seaweed, shells and bubble over the inked stencil background.  stamped the fish separately then fussy cut them out and mounted them on top of the background piece.  both these cards are A2 size ... my favorite size card to create.  have fun and enjoy the weather outside.

Art journal wk#23 - color graduation

wk# 23 - color graduation
stamps used: Ranger  dylusions
inks: Ranger distress inks
Now if you know me and I'm told to do color graduations.....what color do you think I am going to pick?????  yeah, easy one.....green!!!  that's a given.  Again, I kept it simple and let the color shine.  Just stamped a couple of images for fun and of course the date.....added a few Nuvo drops just because I could.

Art Journal wk# 21 brayer paint

week #21 - brayer paint
stamps used:  big fern Hot Potatoes, rain cloud and boots MFPandstamps
the prompt for this week was to brayer layers of paint onto my art journal so that is just what I did!  I got out my Ranger dylusions paint....mainly because they are handy and usually out by my table.  picked random colors and went for it.  It's been rainy here for over a week ... probably closer to two weeks but I need to get over all the rain ..... anyway back to my journal pages ..... I did a rain theme.  you can see the raindrops stencil on the gelli printed tag on one side and clouds with red rubber boots on the other side.  yes, I am starting to finish the gelli prints I created over my friends' house last weekend.

fun with tags

stamps used: Unity stamps
inks: Ranger distress inks
Decided to make a couple of tags doing the an oldie but goodie technique.....embossed resist.  the smaller tag is a white one I cut and the other is a manila bigger size tag so the resist on the smaller tag is more pronounced.  for both tags,  I stamped the "wish" flower for texture around the edge of the tag.  o.k. it's not really a wish flower that is my name because when I was a child, my dad used to call the dandelions that went to seed wish flowers.  he told us to make a wish then blow them to the wind.  the smaller tag I used two distress inks to blend spot colors and on the bigger tag I blended the amber ink all over the tag.  used a stencil to add raspberry spots on the poppy gal then amber and orange dots around the rest of the tag.  just had fun making a couple tags.

Art Journal Adventure wk #19 - colors outside comfort zone

Wk #19 colors outside comfort zone
stamps used:  rose by Endless Creations, flock of birds by Stampscapes, A kind of summer by Uptown Rubber stamps
inks used:  Ranger distress ink lemonade and worn lipstick
colors out of my comfort zone here are yellow and pink.
I started by just swiping the lemonade ink pad on the page then worn lipstick.
next I stamped images with black ink.  I'll give you one guess why there is pattern paper on this page layout.........what's your guess?  leave comment and I'll check in a couple of days to see if you figured it out.
these colors really are out of my comfort zone although I'm not hating this layout but would like it a lot better if there was some greens, blues, purples or browns.  thanks for stopping by.

Art Journal - blank page syndrome

stamps used:  Altenew and dylusions
week #16 - blank page syndrome
the idea for this layout was to start out by layering some kind of written paper on the blank journal pages.  I used this printed deli paper that my friends and I got at a restaurant that the waitress so generously gave us a few sheets.  they used them as place mats on the tables.  after I glued the printed deli sheet on my journal I swiped some  Ranger paint dabbers on it...walked away from it and let it dry to think on what else I wanted to do.  I kept it simple by fussy cutting out some Altenew laying flowers and adhering them on one side then fussy cut out dylusions sayings and adhered them to the other side and called it a day.

distress oxide play time

Played with Ranger distress oxide ink pads...right now I only have four of them:  peeled paint, worn lipstick, wilted violet and spiced marmalade.   I smooshed the inks on my craft sheet...spritz with water then dragged tags and cards in it but I also used Perfect Pearl mists to instead of water.  I will make these samples into cards later in the week.
I did a video showing my playtime with these colors of distress oxides ... you can watch it at the bottom of this post or go to Sue Wisniewski - YouTube to watch it.

Basic easel card with video

score and fold at 5 1/2 & 2 3/4

The easel card has been around for years, and has stood the test of time.  This is a card that is just a little more than an ordinary card.  A couple of folds adds that extra touch to make this an extra ordinary card.

stamps - MFP stamps
inks - Ranger and SU
I thought it would be fun to bring back the technique Triple time stamping with a twist.  The twist is just that ... the cards are placed in a twisted fashion on the card.  I think it is a fun change on this technique that has been around for a few years.  what do you think?
please watch video at the bottom of this post or at Sue Wisniewski - YouTube
measurements:
cream cardstock layers - 2 x 3 1/4, 3 x 4 1/4, 4 x 5 1/4

Resist more

Two more cards showing this fun resist technique.  Basically you blend, sponge or stipple color onto card...I used white cardstock but I'm sure it would work with cream or any light color cardstock.  after you have all the color you want on card ... let it dry.  Next stamp images with VersaMark ink pad and watch the magic happen.  when those images are dry you can over stamp the same images with Colorbox white pigment ink for contrast...after that step I dusted on some Ranger perfect pearls for more pop!  stamp and emboss a saying and you are done.

another post it note holder

here is a square post it not holder.....it holds a 3" post it note pad and a pen on top.  Actually you can turn this holder so the pen is on the side if you want.  for the background of this piece I inked up an acrylic block with distress inks, spritz with water then pressed it to the cardstock.  this is a quick and easy water color effect.  after it dried ... can use heat tool to dry it ... I stamped the leaf image with archival jet black ink ... added some glittery dots with stickles ... tape it to piece of pattern paper then to post it note holder ... this make a wonderful little gift.

After I finish watercoloring all my little snow angels I'll use them on cards.  come back soon to see.
