Sometimes, Nubby is dead within a second. Others, Nubby is thrown into a completely incomprehensible disaster of ichor streams and snot-shots that to continue would seem like an impossibility.
And yet, every single time. Nubby gets back up.
Nubby doesn't whine, or complain. Nubby doesn't hesitate. The launch button is pressed once again and Nubby is forcefully ejected into the fresh hell that the number factory has in store for one simple reason.
The numbers must grow. Quotas must be met. And the factory must continue.
After a while of playing, this simple loop began to become inspirational.
The more I played, the more I realized that Nubby can represent something that is profoundly familiar in everyday life. The majority of people are not heroic, at least not in the traditional sense. The average person won't be a legendary warrior or "The Chosen One". And like Nubby, we get bounced around in unexpected directions from time to time.

That plan for a future career, a house you wanted to buy, a family you planned to start, thrown into chaos seemingly in an instant. Sometimes you build an incredible setup, only for one bad event to destroy the run. Sometimes you feel like you are one missed quota away from the sun exploding.
But Nubby quietly teaches us something important through the mask of absurdity: progress is not about never failing, but about relaunching despite failure.
Nubby is constantly, violently hurdled to a gruesome death. However, death itself can become a path to success. Entire runs can be built around this philosophy. The lunar perk rewards persistence over time, Ouroboros quite literally rewards Nubby's accumulated suffering. Even disaster can become the fuel to bring you to success.
This idea can transcend the game entirely.
People fail classes. They lose jobs. A relationship collapses. Plans fall apart. Entire periods of life can feel like every step is a catastrophic misplay. But Nubby teaches us that true value is not determined by avoiding hardship, but by being able to continue despite it.
There is also something oddly beautiful about how insignificant Nubby can appear compared to that which surrounds him. He is small, replaceable even. Yet the stability of the sun relies on Nubby's ability to fulfill a quota and the perseverance to keep going. This mirrors reality in a way few other games do.
