My first AC after Blackflag, and what an experience it was, Loved how egypt was created, at times felt surreal to be able to walk in Ancient Egypt,

Story, yeah about that, felt like a drag, and somewhat lacked depth.

Just because I can't open a Ubisoft Account I can't play this game, screw you Ubisoft.

This is possibly my favorite Assassin's Creed title of all time...
The setting, atmosphere, gameplay, riddles, tombs, Trials of the Gods, DLC content, graphics, and characters. There is so much to do in this game, so many unique experiences to be had and a good amount of replay ability. 10/10.

Everything is gorgeous. The lighting especially has always stood out to me for a game released in 2017 with absolutely no Ray-Tracing (RTX) support, it's stunning. You can tell the developers put a ton of love and care into meticulously designing the world and graphical/lighting systems. This game is definitely a showcase for its time. (I played @1440P, Very High/High, HDR ON, 60 FPS VSYNC ON for reference.) Everything felt smooth.

The combat while being initially hard to learn is extremely rewarding when mastered with lots of variety in weapon type, both melee and ranged. My first playthrough I abused Sickle Swords and Spears, my second I started exclusively using a Heavy Blunt and Twin Blades as a challenge until beating the Trials of the Gods and then settling on the Regular Sword and Scepter. each weapon type having its own unique playstyle to master, with many different variations in stats and visual appeal to chose from.

Additionally, there is almost always multiple ways to approach a situation, you can go in "Guns Blazing" or stealthily for many different enemy encounters and are not punished for clearing areas how you want.

Nightmare Difficulty is quite challenging at first, but once you get good gear, or upgrade your equipment and abilities enough it's very doable. If you are after a challenge with this game I would highly recommend the Trials of the Gods. The Phylakes are quite tough and the DLC versions of them are a bit tougher. The Gladiator Arena is very fun as well and has some challenging bosses, plus you can compare scores with friends.

The story is fantastic, another massive strong point of this game. Bayek, the protagonist, is driven and the game does a good job of keeping his motivations clear. The supporting cast and antagonists help to flush out the story well.

I firmly enjoyed playing The Curse Of The Pharaohs DLC and completing all the riddles in the base game and DLC, Some of which were genuine challenges. Don't google them! 😂

The meh:
LOTS OF QUESTS, 183 for full completion. many of which are fetch quests.

The Hidden Ones DLC is forgettable.

Trials of the Gods, while fun and extremely challenging, makes you wait a week between successful attempts to obtain all the gear, which you have to repeatedly kill both the easy and hard god 4 times in total to obtain all the gear. That's 8 fights over the course of 4 weeks. 2 fights per week. You CAN repeat the fights as many times as you want its just tedious. (I would wait until you're max level as the gear drops at whatever level you are and it's quite good. Upgrading gear is expensive)

UPGRADES ARE EXPENSIVE, and there's lots of gear, choose wisely.

I can't put everything in this review, truly this game is one of a kind, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Go explore Egypt as a Medjay, role-play, challenge yourself with the combat and Nightmare Mode, clear massive bases completely unseen. Take in the sights, solve some riddles, defeat the gods! have fun and enjoy. At time of writing "Assassin's Creed Origins - Gold Edition" (All DLC included version of the game) is on sale for $14.99USD this game will be a decade old next year and it still holds up today. $15USD is well worth it for this game.
