I think that Graveyard Keeper is worse than most other games I'd find "bad" because this one was very disappointing. The initial hook for the game is very strong, and I was excited to see how the game expanded on its core gameplay loop of maintaining the graveyard. Instead, the game spirals into a bunch of different mechanics that you have to engage with to further the story, but end up distancing the player from the point of the game.
To start, the days are quite short, so most of the game you're forced to only progress things like farming and dungeon combat for specific quests, while not tending to your graveyard (The point of the game). There are a lot of other small things that bog down the gameplay. One is the map layout. The left side of the map is very sprawling and open, but you can't do anything in 80% of the space since you can only build in the spots the game tells you to. This makes the map feel empty and pointless, and only adds to the time it takes to cross it until you get a stone that lets you teleport to a few locations.
Stamina is also a common point of frustration. You have a very small amount of it, so you'll spend a lot of days just going to a workstation, crafting 4 wood joints, and then sleeping. There is a cooking mechanic that lets you regain stamina throughout the day, but engaging in that takes so much time that you could just sleep through.
The NPCs in this game feel like quest markers more than characters. The only way to progress your friendship with a character is to do quests for them, so interacting with those characters outside of that is pointless. The NPCs don't even have dialogue outside of when you fulfill a quest for them, so the game's world feels barren.
Building stuff is so archaic for no reason. It makes sense that things like graves are only located in the graveyard, but why can I only plant grapes in this one sectioned off area, amongst it's own sectioned off plots. The graveyards layout for where you can build stuff is also very limiting (In a game that's supposed to be all about managing your graveyard). It means that the way you fill out the graveyard will be very similar each time. Not having the ability to move build objects around is also frustrating. Instead, you have to destroy and rebuild it, and destroying structures gives you worse materials then what you used to make it. Adding furniture to the church is also incredibly limited. You're only given a fraction of the churches layout to put anything, so it super barren.
Another issue is the fact that the main part of the game feels superfluous after awhile. After getting a bigger church there's no reason to improve the graveyards quality, so putting time into doing so feels pointless.
I really enjoyed the parts of the game that felt close to the games conceit. Doing mortuary work on the bodies to prepare them for burial was fun. The alchemy portion (Besides expecting you to use trial and error for every recipe) was cool, and making fluids to improve the corpses is a cool idea, even though it's only useful in game to make better zombies.
I got this game for free, and booted it up to enjoy a simulator of graveyard tending, mixed with other tasks to enhance the experience. What I ended up playing was an overfilled and bogged down crafting sim that rarely let you put resources into a graveyard that does nothing.

I liked Punch Club. But this is... Grim Stardew Valley with TEDIUM to the max. Everything takes forever. I am a glutton for punishment, and forced myself to finish it, hence the extended time played. Also pausing the game for extended periods, which I think Steam tracks. Parts are interesting, and I would leave a neutral review if I could.

But the DLC is the most frustrating. If the game simply existed and the DLC was extra that would be fine. But when there's stuff in the game that you can build, that has literally zero purpose -- except for DLC. Why can I build it if I don't have the dlc??
