Backstory:
Flare was born into a wealthy Canterlot family, surrounded by comfort, luxury, and expectation. For the first few years of his life, everything seemed perfect — loving parents, fine tutors, and a future laid out before him. But one night, while staying at a friend’s home during a family gathering, his world changed forever. When he returned, his family estate was reduced to smoldering ashes. Nopony survived.

With no relatives left to take him in, Flare was forced to survive on the streets of Canterlot. The years that followed hardened him. He learned to fend for himself — stealing when he had to, fighting when he must, and flying farther than any colt his age should have dared. Yet beneath the bitterness, a spark of something greater remained.

One day, that spark quite literally ignited. Cornered by a gang of older colts, Flare instinctively unleashed a burst of raw magical energy — a feat no pegasus had ever performed. Word of the incident reached Princess Celestia herself, who sought out the strange young pegasus capable of magic. Instead of punishing him, she offered him guidance.

Under Celestia’s tutelage, Flare learned to control his magic — a blend of flight and sorcery unlike anything seen before. Though he never forgot his tragic past, his years of training helped him channel his pain into strength.

When his studies were complete, Flare chose to leave Canterlot behind, seeking peace — and perhaps purpose — in Ponyville. Yet deep down, he still wonders who or what caused the fire that took his family… and if there are others like him somewhere out there.
