Honest review of Remnant II, from a casual female gamer.

Remnant II feels like someone took a tough action RPG, mixed it with a third-person shooter, and then sprinkled in just enough chaos to keep things spicy, in a good way… until it isn’t. It’s genuinely one of the most “one more run” co-op games around, but it can also be the kind of game that turns relaxation into an unplanned agon.

What’s great ✅

- Combat is satisfying (and surprisingly “fair”): Shooting, dodging, and timing matter. When something clicks, it’s real catharsis—you can feel yourself improving.

- Builds/classes are fun to play with: The Archetype system makes it easy to lean into a vibe (support, tanky, pet handler, gun-focused), and later you can mix Archetypes for more personality.

- Replay value is kind of ridiculous: Worlds, side quests, bosses, even some key encounters can differ between runs, so it’s not just “repeat the same campaign.”

- Co-op is the sweet spot: With friends, hard fights feel like teamwork instead of punishment. (Also: less scary when a horror-ish thing screams at you from the dark.)

- Crossplay with friends is supported: Playing with friends across platforms is a big win, as long as crossplay settings are enabled properly on console.

What’s not so great ❌

- It’s not a “turn brain off” game: Even as a casual player, it demands attention. If the goal is cozy vibes after work, this one sometimes chooses violence.

- Story can feel fragmented: Cool worlds, cool lore, but it’s not the kind of narrative that naturally pulls you forward like a top-tier story RPG. It just doesn’t always glue everything together.

- Procedural design can be a double-edged sword: The variety is awesome, but it also means:

a. you might miss content you wanted to see,
b. you may need repeats to get specific gear/events,
c. sometimes a run feels less “curated” and more “okay, I guess we’re doing this dungeon now.”

- Performance has been a real complaint. Ocassionaly co-op interactions could trigger stuttering for some people (like myself).

- Difficulty spikes + boss design can be a wall: Some bosses are brilliant. Others feel like they’re daring you to uninstall (especially solo).

Who it’s perfect for:
Someone who likes action, gear, and “learn the fight” moments.
Someone who can handle getting knocked down a few times without taking it personally.
Someone with a friend group—because co-op turns frustration into euphoria.

Who might bounce off:
Anyone who hates repeating content to chase specific items/rolls.
Anyone very sensitive to performance hiccups.
Anyone who wants TOO MUCH of a story.

Verdict: If the idea of a challenging co-op shooter-RPG with wild replayability sounds fun, Remnant II is a strong pick and it’s at its best when shared. If the goal is pure relaxation, it can still be enjoyable, but it’s the kind of “relaxing” that occasionally involves shouting... “WHY DOES IT HAVE TWO PHASES?!”

Here’s my own review on Phasmophobia and it's 100% real:

Recommended ✅ (but only if being humbled by a ghost is emotionally acceptable)

Phasmophobia is the only game where I willingly walk into a dark house, hear a whisper, and immediately forget every coping skill I’ve ever learned. It’s paranormal investigation meets group therapy, except the therapist is a demon and the co-pay is my dignity.

What it does right:

- Atmosphere is top-tier: the audio alone deserves an award and a restraining order.
- Co-op is hilarious: friends turn into professional athletes the second a door creaks.
- The investigation loop is genuinely satisfying when the clues line up.
- It’s scary without needing cheap jump-scares every five seconds (most of the time).

What it does wrong (affectionately):

- Some runs are “genius detective work,” and some are “we found zero evidence and died anyway.”
- Randomness + bugs can occasionally turn science into interpretive dance.
- New players will feel like interns in a haunted office: confused, underpaid, and screaming.

Final thoughts:
If you like spooky teamwork, tense moments, and laughing so hard you accidentally trigger the spirit box, this is a must-play. Just remember: the real horror isn’t the ghost, it's your friend saying, “Split up for more evidence.”

⭐ 8.5/10 (would get hunted again, would not go in first)
