Thursday, 03-09-26

Evening, everyone.

Breakfast was an apple, before early morning PT
I had lunch out with a friend and I enjoyed a jacket potato with baked beans.  I couldn't manage all of it but what I ate was delicious.

And this was dinner.  Yesterday's leftover bolognaise and I roasted and roughly mashed sweet potato for a topping - you can't really see it as the blends nicely with the bolognaise.  Very orange with the carrots but there's loads of veg in the mince.
Half a healthy fats/oils for evoo

I can't really do a summary as I don't know the lunch count - I did ask for no butter but I think I detected a bit.

B:  fruit

L:  I quite fancy pancakes again

D:  half the cottage pie is left over so I'll have that with something.  I ha.ve stuff to use up

Wednesday, 02-09-26

Really sorry - I wrote Tuesday's post but didn't publish it.  No idea why not.  It's there now.

Breakfast was an apple and a banana.

I had a bacon and egg sandwich for lunch.
One fibre and half a healthy fats/oils

Spag bol for dinner.

Half a healthy fats/oils

Summary:
Healthy extras:  one fibre and one fats/oils
No swips.

I'm not sure about breakfast/lunch as I will be out

D:  cottage pie

 Evening, everyone!

I had an apple before Groove and a nectarine and a banana afterwards.

Lovely lunch - I made pancakes with a thinner batter so they were more like crepes, drizzled in lemon juice and sugar (sweetener) and topped them with plums and strawberries.
So good and very filling.  It's easy to forget that my pancakes have wholemeal flour, sourdough starter, egg and yogurts so very satisfying.

Half a fibre for the flour and starter and I'm saying a swip for the sweetener.  It isn't really but SW likes you to swip sweetener if you have over a certain amount and I think I was pretty close to that.  Not very healthy and I don't do it very odften.

Something I have been craving.  Two small jacket potatoes with salad cream (sorry but a jacket HAS to have salad cream), grated cheddar and bacon with tomatoes on the side.

One and a half calciums, one swip for a few sprays of evoo over the potato skin and two swips for salad cream (the 70% less kind)

Summary:
healthy extras:  one and a half calciums and half a fibre
four swips
B:  fruit and yogurt

L:  bacon and egg roll, tomatoes

D:  spag bol and side salad

Monday, 31-08-26

 Evening, everyone.

I didn't follow my plans - I'm taking a while to enjoy the thought of eating again which is annoying.

I found a couple of spanakopitas in the freezer so I had them with some tomatoes and they were nice - I enjoyed them.

Nine swips

Peanut butter with apple slices to dunk.  The peanut butter was PBP, lower fat, and one and a half swips per level tbsp (for powder) so that was three swips.

Later on I had a banana.

From the freezer, one of those 'use up bits and bobs' casserole type thing with a double portion of cheese melted over.
Very nice.

Summary:
healthy extras - just two calciums
twelve swips

B:  fruit

L:  pancakes - not sure whether sweet or savoury yet.

D:  cheesy jacket potato with salad

Groove and the walk.

Sunday, 31-08-26

Evening, everyone.  Everything is still staying pot and my system seems to be pretty much back to normal - a bit bunged up, maybe, but that will sort out.

I had a couple of small apples earlier.

Then breakfast was porridge with yogurt, banana and mixed seeds.
One fibre for the oats and half a healthy fats for the seeds.
Swip free.

For lunch, I made leek and potato soup (swip free) and some cheesy waffles to dunk.  The waffles were lovely but maybe bread would have been better dunking material!
Pretty much half a fibre for the flour, two swips for grated parmesan and one swip for nooch.

This was incredibly filling with the result that I didn't want much for dinner at all.  I ended up having an apple, a banana and a bit of cheese to nibble for one calcium.  I didn't take any photos.

Summary:
One calcium, half an oil/fats and one and a half fibres (I know - you're not really supposed to split a healthy extra between two different types)
Three swips

B:  fruit salad and yogurt

L:  Greek style orzo peppers, side salad

D:  something on toast

No circuits because it's a bank holiday

Saturday, 29-08-26

Evening, everyone.  I'm back, things are settling down now and today's food was planned. Still pretty much BRAT food but everything has stayed put since Friday morning so I'm hopeful.

I went to SW group yesterday morning and found I had lost another three pounds.  Six pounds in two weeks is not healthy or advisable but inevitable, I guess, and I'm seeing it as a bit of a silver lining, even if I regain a bit after eating normally again.

I plan to remain pretty much on BRAT for another day and then, all being well, on Monday, go back to SW planning again and slowly reintroduce the good Mediterranean type stuff I like so much.  Legumes, whole grains, loads of vegetables - all that good stuff.

I'll start with the bread.  I needed to go over to white bread while doing BRAT so I baked a loaf on Thursday and this one today because everything in the freezer is wholewheat flour based.
It looks bigger than it is - it's one of those 400g small loaves - 250g of white flour and 150g water plus yeast, etc. and it was very nice, just without the flavour, texture and filling qualities that a wholegrain loaf has.  I'm planning to go back to my usual on Monday, when I resume SW counting.

Breakfast was some pureed apple and some Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey.  I checked and honey is good after a tummy upset, having anti-inflammatory properties and supports better gut bacteria.
It's also sweet and makes fruit and yogurt very tasty.

So now we know!

A bit later I had a banana.

The last slice from the first loaf, toasted.  Just plain.
This bread is delicious, but it doesn't fill and satisfy like wholegrain bread does.

Google tells me that white toast is 'gentle on the tum and helps bulk up stool'.  Another bit of 'useful' info!!

One slice instead of two and scrambled egg for lunch.  Much more filling with the egg.

Later on, I had another banana!

At last, some colour. for dinner  As I'm now in danger of going the other way and being bunged up, I spread my wings a bit.  This was chicken, sweet potato, carrot. some basmati rice, tomato (flesh only, I removed the seeds and skin), garlic granules, chicken stock and a tsp of mixed seeds on top.  It was very tasty, SW friendly and pretty Mediterranean.
Time will tell if it was too much, too soon.

OK, so today is BRAT with bells on!

B:  porridge, yogurt and banana

L:  leek and potato soup with bread to dunk

D:  beans and rice - I have cooked beans in the freezer and some of today's dinner left over so it can all go in together with more of the pouch of basmati rice and, maybe, more veg.

Wednesday, 26-08-26

Hi, all.  It seems very silly that, while this bug is around, to be posting every day about what I'm not eating and how I'm not sticking with either SW or Mediterranean food.
I'll be back just as soon and things have settled again.
