40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Holidays/Seaside/Beach

Week 39 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

This week the prompt is Holidays/Seaside/Beach.

This is my interpretation of  the title.  Blue sea and sky, lovely bright flowers in hedgerows and hair, sitting back and just enjoying the sun.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Summer

Week 37 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

This week the prompt is Summer.

I am trying to do some of the challenge nails in advance.  I did these nails a few weeks back.

I have used OPI Alpine snow for the base colour.  The main gradient here is done solely using acrylic paint.  I started off using just an orange and deep red but thought it needed something else.... So.... I added a lighter orange at the cuticle and three sponges later I had a beautiful hot summery gradient.

To finish, I added some lacey decals and some studs.  Overall, I loved this on and got many compliments.  (was asked where I got them done?)  Just wishing now our summer is just as hot.

The acrylic colours I used are Orange, Vermillion and Deep Red.  The decals (10 black and 10 white) are from Aliexpress and I have used them before, here and here.  I also used a very similar set from Sparklynails here.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Hot Pink - Gradient with Decals

Week 34 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

This week a double prompt, Hot Pink for everyone and my personal prompt: Gradient.

I chose my colours carefully, thinking they were different shades (the first two in picture below), in the bottle they certainly look it, right?  Wrong!  I had a base of white (OPI - Alpine Snow), on top of that I started to sponge on the first two OPI colours, but when on they looked the same.  I did another coat thinking the difference would show.... nope... it did not.

So I changed one of the colours (LA Girl).  I did from cuticle, LA Girl and 2nd OPI, and this seemed much better.  On the two middle fingers I added a little white to the tips to lighten it a little.
They looked too plain though, so I added some flower decals on a few nails.

I have done gradient nails a million times, but this one just did not turn out that well at all.  I am pleased but not one of my best!

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Animals

Week 29 of the 52 week 40 Great Nail Art Idea's Challenge.

The prompt for the challenge this week is Animals.

Recently I have seen loads of animal print nails on the web.  I can't give credit to anyone in particular as I took inspiration from lots of pics that I liked and this is what I came up with.

For my base for the animal nails I used SH Shorely and then the gradient is done with a mix of brown, black and white acrylic paints.

The next two photos are without clean up.  Not too bad a mess and it was fairly easy to clean up as it was acrylic paint used for the gradient.

Orange Nails for a Wedding - 4 May 2015

I attended several weddings this year.  For each I had a different outfit and of course I had to do nails to match.

This is a wedding I went to back in May - these are the nails I did to match my outfit.

I taped off the tips at different lengths, and sponged on with an orange and white polish (I am sorry I don't remember which I used).  I then sponged on some glitter and highlighted the shape with another shade of orange.  For the ring finger I used a silver glitter again highlighting the shape with an orange.

Above my nails on top of the dress of my outfit.

Mango N smoke Gradient - 25 March 2015

I didn't know how to title this so ..... as the accent nail looks smoky.......

Just a simple two colour gradient with a smoky accent nail.

Items used as above with Nail Envy base coat and SV top coat.

Easter Decals - 23 March2015

This was my Easter Manicure.  I sponged on a bright gradient with acrylic paints on a white base. Once dry I placed some water decals, top coated with SV and voila.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Halloween

This is week five of the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge

This week as the title suggests, it is Halloween nails.

I did some "zombiefied" nails but they were a big fail.  They looked ok IRL but in photo's not so good.  So I re-did them.  I did a simple 3 colour gradient using pale lilac, purple and black and then hand drew some spooky trees and bats with acrylic paint.

Items used:
Nail Envy base coat
Elf - Lilac
Nails Inc - Wigmore Street
PIA - Black
Sponge
Black Acrylic paint
