COMC Tom Glavine Pickups

 Tom Glavine knows a thing or two about playing in the World Series.  This patch commemorates the 1995 World Series.  He was the series MVP pitching 14 innings to a 1.29 ERA including 8 scoreless innings in a Game 7 1-0 shutout.  Hard to come up much bigger in that moment.  The scan doesn't do this card any justice.

I purchased this lot from COMC in 2022 as part of a bigger order.  So many great cards.  That 2017 All-Star is my favorite of these three cards.  Even though it's not an action shot I remember that look from Glavine so well.  Tom Glavine is one of my top 5 all-time favorite players.

We need more Highlights cards like this.  2007 was Glavine's last year in New York and went 13-8 in his age 41season.  He ended his career with 305 wins, 2X Cy Young, 10X All-Star, 1995 World Series MVP, 4X Silver Slugger and of course induction into the MLB Hall of Fame.

So many fun cards and designs amongst all of these.   This 2014 Topps Archives below is maybe my favorite of this lot.  That 1980 design has always been one I really like even without a team logo.  Enjoy the World Series!

COMC Patrick Mahomes Pickups

Time to show off the Patrick Mahomes cards I picked up as part of that COMC purchase.  Only a few of them but I'm a big fan so I'm very happy with these.  This 2018 Contenders Draft Picks is a cool looking card with the Red Raider colors, uni and logo.

I like Contenders and this 2019 base design is my favorite.  Really like how they did the circle and logo.  I know that sounds simple, and maybe even dumb, but I dig it.  This MVP insert is also from the 2019 Contenders set and looks good.  I like full representations of helmets on cards.

Some wins here as I'm a big Mahomes fan and a fan of Texas Tech.  We'll finish it off with his 2017 Contenders Draft Picks Passing Grades insert.  Enjoy all the football today.  Chiefs take on the struggling Rams at home in a later afternoon game.

 

COMC Damian Lillard Pickups

Damian Lillard:  I had a COMC purchase shipped earlier this year that included cards from across the card realm.  I had been saving the cards up for over a year before hitting the purchase button.  Today I'll show off my Dame cards.  Lots of good ones here.  He's having another good year but needs to get his shooting percentages up to get back to elite.  This NBA City card comes from the 18-19 Hoops set.  The dark colors work well with the Rip City uni he's wearing.  Sharp looking card.

I love me some Contenders and didn't hesitate grabbing these.  I really like the look of all three of these.

From the 17-18 Prestige set these Stars of the NBA cards are the base and Rain parallel designs.  The rain parallels really look good.

Going horizontal allows for some nice photos we don't always see on cards otherwise.  This Courtside from 18-19 Hoops is a nice photo of Dame turning the corner.

I like the "Kings" cards that Donruss does and this design is a good looking one.  Their All-Star set was plenty colorful but works for the most part. Looks like a photo from the actual game so I'd prefer seeing all of the in-game photo but I'm good with it overall.

This Court Kings doesn't have the classic feel to me but they can't all be winners.  Panini seemed to like the alternative unis which is fine with me.  All of the Portland jerseys have a good look to them.  We'll end it with another Contenders card.  I like that big logo.

COMC.com - My First Time

I've heard fellow bloggers talk about comc.com (COMC Card Marketplace and checked it out some time back and I dove right in.  Over a few months I filled out my cart and received my first order last week.  I was very haphazard and put zero planning into this.  I ended up all over the place as I'd think of a player or card and say hey I need that.  I'll definitely put more thought into my purchases moving forward which will also mean I need to have a better handle on exactly what i have in regards to individual players.  That's all good motivation for me. For now you'll see me show off the cards I did pick up starting with Tom Brady.

 I'm a huge Tom Brady fan as he is a Michigan alum but amazingly I don't have that many cards of his.  Combining my love of those great Michigan uniforms, Tom Brady and the Contenders brand of cards I was very excited to see there were plenty at COMC to pick up.  I really like how these look.

  A couple more Contenders cards and a nice Rookie & Stars that has a similar design. 

I picked up far more Brady cards than any other player in this order.  I think because I didn't have many it made it very easy.  I've always liked that 2011 retro uni card of Brady so it was a fun pickup.  I'll continue to show off the cards I picked up this go around so expect to see more posts on those soon.

Again I need to figure out how to start cataloging those cards and sets I have in my personal collection better so that future COMC purchases are not so all over the place.  Idea has been born...a plan will hopefully follow soon...
