Welcome to "Adventures in Lead", a blog dedicated to the hobby of miniature wargaming. The figures and terrain on this site are mainly for a campaign set in exotic "Indostan", a distant land bearing remarkable similarities to 18th century India during the Seven Years War. Bits and pieces from other projects may pop up here as well from time to time, including colonials, gladiators, pirates, dinosaur-hunting and even some RPG'ing.
The actual campaign journal and after action reports for the Indostan campaign can be found on their own blog - "Indostan: The Jewel in the Crown", the link to which is found by clicking the small image below-left.

The Werewolf and the Highwayman.

Continuing on my 18th century horror stint, I present this pair.
I have had the Reaper Werewolf kicking around on the painting queue since last year. It is actually a Reaper Bones miniature, the first I have painted and I must say, I had no problems at all with it. Looking on the net I have seen it painted in brown, grey and even white, but I went for a more sinister, darker tone. It towers over a 28mm miniature and certainly will make an imposing monstrous villain.
The figure is an Outpost Wargame "Highwayman in French Greatcoat". I really like this miniaturre and he could just as easily serve as a hero or villain. He has a certain "Brotherhood of the Wolf" look, what with the greatcoat and all. Outpost are a decent match for Front Rank miniatures, if not a little chunky. I do hope he has silver bullets in those pistols though.

The Minotaur, Taurus Maximus

In the earliest renditions of Blood on the Sands, fantasy always played a large part in the game and as the basic rules edge closer to completion, I can't help but think back to those days. I have again started toying with the idea of bringing BotS into the realm of fantasy again, but it will always remain primarily a "historical" set of rules.
To help test out some of the special rules that would be required, I have roped in a new, willing and bloodthirsty assistant. At a recent local convention I acquired a Reaper minotaur, a figure I have always coveted for just such a purpose and inspired by the find, even found the time to paint him up. I present to you "Taurus Maximus". (Click the images to enlarge)

18th Century Horror

Although I haven't posted anything for quite a while I have not been resting on my laurels. I've been furiously working on my gladiator ruleset "Blood on the Sands" and also prepping for the next big Indostan game, which should be along within the next month.
I have been slightly distracted though by a small project involving zombies, ghouls and vampires. Inspired by the goings on over at "Dust, Tears & Dice" involving some Elizabethans and the undead. My original plan  was to run a "Pike & Shot & Zombies" game but firstly the rules were for individual "heroes" only and secondly I have not a single ECW figure. Considering the amounts of 18th century bods we have lying around I thought I'd try to utilize them instead. So sometime in the future I envision a kind of Witch-hunters in tricorns type game against the forces of evil.
Last Christmas I purchased a box of Mantic zombies and about a dozen Mantic ghouls. Both types of plastic undead are really nice, easy to put together and a dream to paint. I have painted my first 9 (of 30) zombies and although not a horde, look good massed together. What follows is hopefully a taste of things to come...

"Dont fire until you see the whites of their eyes!"

"Their eyes are ALL white Sir!"

"Then fire!! Fire!!"
