Game Time!

I love a good monochromatic page!  This one was made with the Crate Paper Color Challenge in mind, and it was fun to return to something I haven’t done in a while.  There’s a little bit of blue in nearly every Crate line, and many of them are on this page.  Represented are Party Day, Maggie Holmes, Story Teller, Farmhouse, and probably one other line I am forgetting about.  The photos are Instagram shots of my son and his favorite activity these days: Computer time!

It Happened One Day

Many of you probably know of the lovely Ronda Palazarri.  Well, interestingly enough, being Facebook Friends recently led us to playing the “Scamble with friends” app for the iPhone.  When we first started playing, it was obvious to me that she had much more experience with the game then I did, and she beat me soundly over and over.  It became my goal to someday beat her… and then scrapbook about it.  While getting beaten over and over, I learned how to take a screen shot with my phone in preparation for the event that I hoped would eventually come.

Ronda is a very kind and encouraging person, and she often pointed out when I did well, or when I was gaining on her, and if it hadn’t been for her pointing it out, I probably would have missed this photograph-able moment.

I used Crate Paper for this layout, mostly from the Random Collection.  Thanks for the fun, Ronda!

Thanks for taking a peek!

I told you I was crazy…

Last week I posted this on my Facebook page:

Alyssa McGrew

Attempting one of those 1002-questionable-will-I-be-able-to pull-it-off-layouts. If I can pull it off, it will be awesome!

So, here’s the story.  I had a dream, one of those half-asleep crazy ideas that comes every now and then and makes me want to try something new and off the wall.  In this case, the idea was to document my family’s candy preferences on a candy-store-display type of layout.  Sounds simple, right?

I took the family to the gas station and let them chose a candy item… you can see the confusion on the kids faces, as this so rarely happens.

After they had make their choices, I took the wrappers off myself so they’d be in one piece, then scanned everyone’s wrappers,  I edited them in Photoshop to make them the right size.

Then I built this layout, using lots of Hambly products (love those jars!) and some other items from my scrap drawer.

One thing I would change?  Work with the scans of the wrappers to make them more saturated.  But over all, I’m pretty pleased and think it’s a darn cool layout.

What do you think?  Do you take those crazy ideas and actually make them happen?  How do they usually turn out?  I’d love to hear!  Smile  Thanks for coming by,

Sneaky Mommy

A few days ago while we were playing a board game, I picked up my phone and started taking pictures of the kids.  I got a few in before they realized what I was doing.  Then they figured it out and started hamming it up for the camera, and I captured these shots:

Now I just need time to get these on a layout!
