Grinch Themed Dessert Table

This weekend I designed a dessert table for a good friend of mine who threw her little boy a fabulous first birthday party. Jenny is a very creative girl with a great party mind, lots of love for her little boy and a sweet husband who will play along. ;)

The theme was The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. I love the premise of the party which is that the Grinch stole Christmas for the greater good...for all those little boys and girls whose birthdays fall at Christmas. Steal Christmas to give them back the spotlight. ;) Jenny definitely succeeded in putting the spotlight on her little boy with all the hardwork she put into the party. This dessert table is just a small part of a great party put on by a even greater mommy!!!

Happy Birthday Rhett!! Welcome to single digits!!!

Recognize the backdrop? Its from the Wrap and Wine. Since I was sticking to the red and green color scheme I thought it would make a perfect backdrop.

All the desserts were things the Grinch stole from the Whos.

First off, their ornaments (cake balls).

Dr Seuss

Cat In The Hat with a side of Green Eggs and Ham!! :)

Tomorrow morning my daughter's preschool class is having a Cat In The Hat party to celebrate Dr Seuss and all his imaginative rhymes. I LOVE Dr Seuss books and always have so much fun trying to recreate elements from his books into cake form. :)

Here is hoping the kids enjoy their party tomorrow and that I get this bad boy to the school without any cake blunders!!! :)

Thing One and Thing Two

I love this cake for two reasons...first off I love the way it turned out! (what a great party theme for twins!)

The second reason this is a cool cake for me is b/c I was making cakes for these little kids back when they were growing in their mama's tummy. One of my first baby shower cakes was created for this family...remember this one? Its nice to see these little babies are grown up to a healthy big kid age of ONE!!! :)

Happy 1st Birthday Baby A and Baby B!!

Cat In The Hat

We looked! Then we saw him Step in on the mat!
We looked! And we saw him! The Cat in the Hat!

This Cat In The Hat cake is for Aidan's 1st birthday. Aidan has very severe allergies (egg, peanut, cinnamon,...the list goes on). His mama was very happy to find that I could create an allergy free smash cake for him to dive into! (thanks to Cherrybrooke Kitchens)

Happy Cat in the Hat Birthday Aidan!!!!!

And the smash cake....

And to go along with this cake, a few ideas for a Cat In the Hat birthday party!!!!
(click on the picture to enlarge)
Lots of blue and red balloons!!! Tissue paper pom poms are a great decorative accent as well. You can make them yourself, or purchase the kits on Esty.

Red, white and blue candy bark. So easy to make! For instructions on how to make this go here.
You can include the candy bark in your red, white and blue candy buffet!

Go here to get your adorable Cat in the Hat birthday banner!
How cute are these thing one and thing two cake pops!?!?!

And you gotta dress your little one in a Thing 1 shirt, and if you have a girl you gotta have the tutu to complete the ensemble!! If you have twins its perfect.

And don't forget to include the Cat In the Hat himself!!! The party wouldn't be complete without the book somewhere in attendance!!!
.
So there you go!! You've got your cake and a few party ideas so get going.
"Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!"
